I've been gone since yesterday. When I left, Jesse Jackson was scheduled to march on behalf of the NAACP in Palm Beach. Today...I haven't heard a word about it. What happened???

I think they took a vote on whether or not he should march, and they're still counting the ballots.

Ah, my Idaho friend...hi! So. Does this mean he's ideologically available to the perceived majority of the moment???

Toke,
Jesse had his rally but got mad in the middle of it and left. It was said on the news that he was afraid for his safety.
There were too many hecklers there. I also seem to remember he didn't have the supporters he thought he would have.

Hi toke-
I have to admit that I really don't know anything at all (aside from the post above ^^^) on this subject. I just made up the earlier post. I don't know what came over me.
Does this mean he's ideologically available to the perceived majority of the moment???
No, I think that would be either Bush or Gore, but I probably need to read a couple hundred more posts to be sure.

Word on Fox TV, at least, is that although he expected 15,000 to show up, only 1,500 did, so he blamed voter apathy and stomped off in a huff.

Does anybody but me find it just a tad bizarre that Jackson, who likes to believe he took up Dr. King's mantle, is supposed to have had to leave a rally because of hecklers and "fear for his safety"?

HCQ...according to the article, there were 3,000 supporters and a dozen hecklers. Can't imagine they would have been a threat. Although, he's not used to other African-American being the hecklers. That probably unnerved him!

Toke and HCQ,
I think he really left because he got too hot. HCQ, did you see the sweat pouring off of him? LOL! He looked miserable and mad at the same time.
He came to our area last year to "defend the righteous" and did we have a mess.
HCQ, As a great admirer of Dr. MLK. I find Jesse a------well----DUD.

I'd go farther and call him a shameless self-promoter who now bears a creepy resemblance to Sharpton and Cochran. It's a shame, considering where he started out, kinda like watching Sinatra in his dotage.

"As Monday's protest march reaches Narcissus Avenue, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and his team turn left."
This is from KRS's link. Cracked me up!
