What kind of worker are you? Do you keep your desk tidy and neat all the time, or do you function best with organized confusion?

Organized confusion! Excellent way to put it!
My workspace has enough room for me to work, lol...and every now and then I can't stand it and I put away the little things that have crept in my way like checkbooks and empty sushi containers and coke and cappucinos and labels and staplers and measuring tapes and lighters and pens and receipts and coffee cups...
and then I pay my son to sweep the floor.
Incoming mail is ALWAYS in order though, slotted in a cubby mailrack in my desk cupboard in the order received as soon as the mail is delivered. And my notebooks are also always in order...one notebook for jpg file names and the date taken, and the other for completed seller lists and $.

my desk is SO tiny that I guess organized confusion is the mode for now...
I DID buy a new desk, but it's not assembled yet...
I have a feeling tho' that organized confusion will still reign irregardless...

LOL oddish!
I don't even worry about the kids...they always find their way home when they're hungry.
I think organized confusion is a prerequisite to being successful at eBay...

Oddly enough, tonight when snappin' eBay pix, my son took one of my computer work area (desk is adjacent to it)...So in the spirit of the past week, how's about everyone gets a vote??....Is this desk Messy or Clean (Note: NO wisecracks about my eBay clock...it was a gift!)

I vote for a little of both...it's got a LOT of 'stuff' but it looks organized, right down to the pen on the desk at a 'just so' angle.

Mine's organized confusion (until my husband or mom starts moving things, ugh!) I'd vote for clean on rancher's desk, you can still see some of the surface!

This is not, however, what it will look like Saturday afternoon, at the end of the listing weekend, lol...
Let's see more pix!

Well, um, uh....messy. Very. In fact, my desk at work is so notoriously messy that once when I did one of my very occasional clean-ups a co-worker took a Polaroid of it once I "struck Formica." The picture was passed around the library and commented on in awe and wonder. The event was seen as somewhat on the category of the passing of Halley's Comet.
Now, the thing is that although my work area *is* incredibly messy, with piles of paper covering every surface (sometimes to staggering heights), I can always find things when I need them. I subscribe to the Sherlockian method of touching nothing--that way you can dae things by the thickness of the dust on them No, really, I just seem to be able to visualize where I buried things...

Way messy! But I know where everything is. File system is anally accurate (paper and email files), but you wouldn't know it looking at the desk.
Housemate knows two rules: Move anything on the desk or leave the mail anywhere but in my hand and the penalties will far outweigh anything he can imagine! (He's a sweety, but his entire life is one big miscellaneous file!)

I think these three pics should answer your question......(sorry about the fuzziness factor, they were taken with my $30 toy digital camera...)

(can someone tell me how to make these into links? I know I should know by now but I am technically retarded)
