I read most of what was on the last list so I thought I might try it again. You guys had some great suggestions.
Read any good books lately?
I am going to the bookstore sunday and would really like some ideas on what to look for.
Any new books out that look good?

I've just finished reading Intensity By Dean Koontz. It's not a new book, but it was very very good and thought it was worth mentioning.

I don't know what was on the last list but...

I really like the Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child books. They've written books such as The Relic, Reliquary, Mount Dragon, and most recently The Ice Limit, and I've liked every one of them Kinda in the Michael Crichton genre, but better!

I've read all the John Sandford books (I tend to like long running characters) and am still hooked (detective/drama type). So I also liked the Johnathan Kellerman books (child psychologist/detective).

Currently I'm reading 'Obsidian Butterfly' by Laurell K. Hamilton which is just out there somewhere! Based in a world where vampires, werewolves, etc are common. Very interesting but you definitely have to suspend your disbelief for awhile! (fantasy/vampires)

Actually I'm also in the middle of the last book of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy (the fifth book of the trilogy *grin*) 'Mostly Harmless' - I'd never read the series before, and despite a LOT of hesitation started reading it, and thought it was great - I'd highly recommend a read if you haven't already given it a go (sci-fi/fantasy/comedy).

And yes, I SHOULDN'T be reading more than one book at a time, it discourages me from finishing either. Fortunately, they are so different there's no chance of intermingling any plots in my mind

Good luck on your reading!

I agree on the Laura K. Hamilton books--they are great fun to read for vampire fans. Announcement for Hamilton fans: she has a new character! I recently purchased her new book "A Kiss of Shadows" and highly recommend it. The protagonist, Merry Gentry, has fled the Faerie Court to live in the human world. She works for a private investigation agency that specializes in supernatural problems. And her faerie relatives are very unhappy about it...

You might also want to try "Pay it Forward," the novel the film is based on. Great read, and some of the changes made for the movie are interesting.

I have just finished reading a series of mysteries by Martha C. Lawrence which feature a psychic detective, Elizabeth Chase. "Cold Heart of Capricorn," "Aquarius Descending," "Murder in Scorpio," and "Pisces Rising."

I have to agree with the Dean Koontz choice. He's a little out there, but his books keep you hooked. I have to say I liked his book "Watchers" the best. They made a movie out of it and butchered a great book, I hate when they do that! John Sandford is excellent, Jeffery Deaver ("The Bone Collector"; "The Coffin Dancer" ) is also a great read, but has some twists that some people find disturbing. Patricia Cornwell has a new one out, and Tami Hoag is someone I just discovered as well. All great authors in their own way.
