This is funny but sad. Wonder how soon we'll send people to help see another country get its' democracy.
I say we just crack Bush and Gore's heads together and the one still able to stand is out.
Hi Shadowcat,
Peacekeeping.

Hiya, Shar!
I can just imagine the tom coming home, orders clutched in his hand...
"Honey, I'm being deployed to Florida for 3 months. Those durned Dems and Reps are acting up again."
"I knew the UN sanctions wouldn't work!"

Shadowcat: You can come visit us in sunny, warm SW Fl. It's supposed to warm up this weekend-time for the beach again!

Hi Shadow,
I am just sure he is already on stand-by. Wonder if his dependants will be able to go or if they will consider it too unsafe for the families?
I would think they would call in the National Guard first till the Tom gets there.

Snowyegret: You have no idea how that appeals to me. It's much too cold for this CA girl.
Shar: If he were to be deployed, it would be unaccompanied. I wonder what the threatcon would be or if they would be allowed contact with the local nationals?

Considering that one of the functions of a great many peacekeeping missions is the disarming of the local population, I think that a stateside deployment would be hazardous duty...

Shadowcat: High of 74 tomorrow! Warmer over the weekend! We need help keeping peace at the beach.
I moved to Europe from South Texas-went from the 90s to the 60s. A killer heat wave in England, and I was wearing sweaters-they thought I was nuts.

Snowyegret: When we moved from CA to Europe, the temp in CA was 103 degrees. I had to remind myself to pack coats and sweaters, even though we were wearing shorts. Got to Europe-mid 60's. The only times I've been warm since is during the summers.
Last year, we visited CA during a heat wave-temps hovered around 110 degrees. We loved it.
