Japan has sent us 50,000,000 cases of Viagra.

They heard that our entire country can't get an election.

Where did they send it and how do you get it?

Actually, A lot of Japanese think Bush already won the election. I had some visitors from Japan last week and they were suprised when I told them the election was not over yet. Apparently they saw the picture of Bush with the presidential seal and thought it was over. They do not like Bush and were glad to hear it wasn't over yet!

krs,

Didn't you publicly criticize me last August for using a pun that contained an ethnic stereotype?

You mean "He egypted me?" Sure, but I haven't used a pun, Spaz; the pronunciation of the letter "R" is near impossible for native Japanese speaking people and it's usage, or rather non-usage above is not a pun to be slur.

Oh well then, considering the hopelessness of it all, "is not a pun to be slur" may be
read as "it's not fun to be her". Perhaps I can earn a sexist badge as well that way.

Krs: "Perhaps I can earn a sexist badge as well that way."

Badge???? Heck, are you sure you don't mean
sandwich board to wear around your neck?

I do appreciate most of your threads though....

snowyegret: Thank you for posting the link.

You missed the point, macandjan. If you looked at the thread that I linked to above, you would have seen that krs was the PC police last August. He and "Cheyenne" had a good time trying to instill bad intent into what was really just wordplay on my part.

As to whether what krs wrote in this thread qualifies as a slur, I'll defer to what he himself wrote last August:

Who determines a slur? The slurrer, or the slurree? If it is, as I would think it would be, the slurree who feels a slur, no amount of careful rationalization by the slurrer would help dissuade that feeling.

Decided that I just can't let that last post sit there without further explanation.

I thought krs's joke was funny. In fact, I've already retold it to some people and they thought it was funny. I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

By the same token, I thought my "Egypt me" pun last August was funny too.

I believe that no ill will was meant in either case. I've been posting here for almost two years. In that time I have seen nothing, not even a word, that would lead me to conclude that krs is insensitive to racial issues. I can't imagine any scenario here, in heated argument or otherwise, where he would resort to ridiculing someone on the basis of race or engaging in racial stereotypes. At the same time, based on my own record here, I think the same can be said of me.

By calling krs on his joke in this thread, I was merely trying to point out to him that he's just as susceptible to becoming an innocent PC-victim as I was.

The reason I'm spelling it out here for everyone is because I don't want anyone with a PC-mindset to come along, see my posts and decide krs is the type to use racial stereotypes. It bothered me last August that someone might get that impression of me from krs's and cheyenne's posts, even though I regarded their criticism as just a case of the typical ribbing that we do on these boards.

Awww. Now I feel bad.

Of course, for my part, it was simply an opportunity to rib you, Spaz.

I don't know if Cheyenne was truly offended or not, but I certainly wasn't,..then. However, I am now! For you to take up the cause of the Japanese people is laughable and hypocritical in the extreme. I know with surety that you are not Japanese or you certainly would spell Spazmodeus with an "i" in place of the 'e' so I have to wonder how you have come to think that you have standing to place yourself in the defense of Nippon.

Nippon is Japan

KRS doesnt have to wear a badge; the crown, the velcro remote control holder on his Lazyboy, and the constant shouts of fetch me a beer woman tell the story
