My hubby and I were talking. On Rush(I love this guy!) he said that some news team(sorry don't remember which one) tried to create dimples and simply could not!

We wondered how could they have been created?Hmmm...could it be that the machine recount caused it when the automatic recount was done?

That would explain the slight indentions to me.

So....here we have an historically neutral party reporting that somebody told her that another totally unbiased source had stated at some time that some other unidentified party had tried to dimple a voting card without success...and provides no link to any source that would back up her claim.

Hey, I'll buy that.

Actually, the source was probably Judge Burton, in his Wednesday testimony before Circuit Court Judge Labarga. However, CNN reports that Burton testified that "...even he [Burton] was confused over how to handle oddly marked ballots. 'We have seen such a wide variety of dents and dings and marks, some of us are scratching our heads wondering how did this happen,' a fatigued-looking Burton testified."

Hard:
Well, at least I didn't pretend it came directly from a fictitious source.

Whether you think so or not..what I read and my opinion is just as valuable as yours.

You might be more/less educated..better /worse at things..but your opinions and thoughts andmine count the same.(Thats what makes America great!)

And since when do we quote our news sources as accurate reporting? Depending on what you read..you will get the side of the story you want to.

You could send me a zillion links stating your side..it wouldn't phase me and I wouldn't bother reading them.

Who said I had an opened mind?

The way I see it..the opposing team thinks I must listen to them..yet they don't have to listen to us.

Nope...no open mind regarding the election.

Wouldn't it be exciting if Rush Limbaughwas made Pres. Bush' press secretary?
Wow...he'd certainly put the liberal press in their place..

Why is it the only way you all can feel superior is by 'belittling' and making fun of others?

You know who you are..if the shoe fits...

If you will read my prior post, the only "side" I am on is that of logic and of refusing to substitute rumormongering for boring historical accuracy.

Not that my taking the time to explain this to you will make any difference, but there is, in fact, a distinction to be made between "opinion" and "fact". I think this may explain some of the difficulty you seem to have.

Webster's defines an "opinion" as "a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter; belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge".

A "fact," OTOH, is "an actual occurrence; a piece of information presented as having objective reality."

For example, I offer you a $5 bill for your widget. Your observation "that's a $5 bill" would be a statement of fact. If you said "That's not enough for my widget, and you are a cheapskate for offering it" you would be stating your opinion.

The statement with which you began this thread was presented as fact, not "opinion."

If you are, either by choice or misfortune, unable to distinguish between the two, I can easily understand your recent distress.

Nope...this thread states it is my opinion and that of my husbands. Don't see anywhere that I state it is a fact...

Are you reading between the lines again and telling me what I mean?

This thread is actually fun tonight! Thanks to all of you for entertaining me

Now...can you all be civil and quit degrading and name calling?

This is such a kick!

Not quite rawbunzel

In case anyone misses it in the other thread, can everyone please try and remember that bit in the CGs about "addressing the topic, not the individual"?

Thank you

Aw, IMLDS2! I know you didn't really mean that "intellectual dribble" remark...after all, you followed it by a couple of smiley faces!

So...let me get this straight...neither you nor your husband (nor the great Rush Limbaugh) have an understanding of what causes either pimples or preganancy?

In that case, I really must suggest that you stretch a condom over hubby's head, and keep his pecker out of the sweet tater pie. <------just kidding! See the smiley faces????
