Anyone know what this thing is????
At first I thought it was a printers block since they all have black ink on them(I have several), but since the surface is flat I don't think it would print anything.
It is a wood block witha thin piece of slate attached to the top.
Any clues????
I hope this pic thing works

Lithograph stone?
The picture will be drawn onto the stone in waxy black crayon-like substance. Printer's ink, when rolled over the stone, will be resisted by the wax and cling to the stone only. Then, when paper is pressed to the stone, it picks up the ink in all places except those covered by the wax.

Cool......I need to write that down.
So this is a printers block of sorts then........Seems like alot of trouble to go through to print something.

If you had to reproduce the picture yourself from scratch which would be easier to make -
A stone with a waxy pattern or a inkjet printer with servomotors electronic controls and ink resevoirs with microscopic holes and little heat chambers to squirt the ink out of those holes as it sweeps across the paper being feed by a seperate motor system?
It is easier to go buy a $100 printer because of years of complex developement few understand and nobody thinks of anymore.
