McJane,
The funniest that comes to my mind at the moment was a low budget thing called "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes."
Ever hear of it?

Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
(saw it the first time on opening night, with about 50 fellow members of a medieval reenactment society, all in full battle regalia. Two D.C. police officers kept cruising slooooowly up one side of the street and down the other the entire time we were on line...)
Close second: A Night at the Opera.

calamity I didn't know that was a real movie. I saw a movie with John Cryor & he & this girl were going to the movies to see "The Attack of The Killer Tomatoes" I thought it was a made up title for the movie.
I'll have to check it out.

McJane: Yep, it's a real movie. It does have one really funny scene: a group of soldiers with their guns pointed at a 3 foot tomato chained to a table while a scientist examines it...the scientist looks up gravely & says "Gentlemen, I have bad news--this is a cherry tomato!" Scene cuts to parking lot of a supermarket, woman with shoppinbg cart running screaming from a huge tomato that's taller than the building...

Two of the funniest movies ever made are "Young Frankenstein" and "High Anxiety," both by Mel Brooks.
The first "Airplane" movie also comes to mind.
The Marx Brothers films are absolute gems. My favorites are "Animal Crackers" and "Night at the Opera."
I also liked the two recent DeNiro comedies: "Meet the Parents" and "Analyze This."

I love the Burbs with Tom Hanks. I've seen it a hundred times and it still makes me laugh. Return of the Killer Tomatoes wasn't as funny as the oriiginal. I liked the first one.

I have Attack of the Killer Tomatoes on tape. I love it! I didn't like the sequel though. You do have to have a different sense of humor to appreciate it! I thought the first Brady Bunch movie was very funny. I think the most I have ever laughed was during the Dead Parrot skit on the Monty Python tv show. Also Dwit of the Year.

Airplane
The gods must be crazy
Blazing saddles - The campfire scene alone is worth the rental - and I have seen it god knows how many times.
MP and the Holy Grail - "he says E's not dead"
Ultra Cheese movie comedy - "Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death" (A real movie, look it up on ebay) Written by JD Ahern - Who is really John Lawton - who later wrote "Pretty Woman" We wrote on the same underground newspaper in High School.
The "Avocado Jungle" is mostly the University of California Riverside's botanical gardens. (smirk)
