Hubby and I rented a couple of movies last night.
"Saving Grace", a very funny movie about a widow who gets into growing Hemp to pay off huge debts left by her lousy business man husband. It's British, and very well done. Rated R for language, but laugh out loud funny. If you've not seen it, invest the 95 minutes.
"Anna and the King", a lavish epic of a movie. I've read the book, seen the Yul Brenner "The King and I", and we saw Yul Brenner in person in 1984 perform the play in Cleveland. He died about 8 months after we saw that performance. What a man...
This newer movie version is more closely drawn from the actual diaries of Anna, but still strays from the actual happenings. It's a beautiful movie, the costumes and scenery are great. Hubby liked it better than I did, but I did enjoy it. He really likes Jodi Foster.

I don't go to many movies because I can't hear the dialog. We have a theatre about a 40 minute drive away that has current releases captioned for the deaf. It is a blast because the audiance all know each other and come early and sign to each other and visit like a picnic. I don't sign well but it is a nice atmosphere.
Is there any web sites anyone would reccommend for videoes being released? I often see a movie advertised on TV and think I'd like to see that when the video comes out but forget.
I prefer watching most movies at home. I have trouble with the sensory input at times. We have a dvd player, and surround sound system in our family room and a 32" TV. I also don't like paying $7 for most loser type movies. There are very few that are worth that kind of money.
Renting dvd's is cool because of the added features too. Gravid, many dvd's have close-captioning as well. Do videos support CC?

I went to Baltimore to see Yul Brynner in "The King and I" when he was on tour. Felt one just had to see him in this role in person after enjoying the movie. That would be one of the few reasons for ever going to Baltimore. Johns Hopkins and maybe Inner Harbor as the other two.
Cable has been running "Anna and the King", but I have no desire to see it. IMHO, Jodie Foster as Anna was laughable casting.
