Snakes. All snakes one runs into must be killed. They MIGHT be Venomous. So???????? You see a snake in plenty of time to avoid it, you run for your hoe to kill it and there it is still sunning itself and ignoring you. Wack! Cut off it's head.

I had a helpful stranger lop off the head of a snake my kids were looking (I tried to tell him not to) at but not too close and then try to tell me my kids were in danger. (In danger of a bull snake) ! I told him my kids were in no danger from a bull snake and that they have a Boa. He proceded to tell me that that was dangereous. I very nearly told him to suck the venom out of my.........

I've had teachers tell my daughter she can't bring her snake (completely secured) in for show and tell, but any kid can bring any old mut or cat in and the school never even checks for rabies shots or ringworm or ticks or fleas.

I've told these teachers and anyone else who is so prejudice that they become stupid in their fear that without snakes we would all perish in a very short time.

Just wanted to rant, My ex mother in law is surely praying every night to save our souls as we have an evil snake.

My daughter had two bull snakes and a hog nose snake when she was growing up. The bull snakes liked each other a lot. Soon we had little bull snakes. All of her friends wanted one, but the parents didn't understand how anyone could keep a snake as a pet. I told them, they don't bark, they don't chew the furniture or wet on the floor. When they shed it's all in one piece, not all over the house. They eat once a week sometimes less. I made a lot of converts. I would go to PTA meetings and hear them telling people who weren't lucky enough to have one what great pets snakes were.
I love dogs and cats, always had those too, but snakes a great pets.

I not only chickened out, but I went with the better price. I got a verly light cream berber with speckles of red blue yellow and gold.

As soon as I get the place in some order I'll do before after shots, but it's still a mess now and curtains and blinds seem a distant dream. I've got blankets n sheets up for now and kinda embarassed to take after shots with that goin on.

One more paycheck and I'll have blinds. OR if my dragon sells, either one.

I have a ball python and I hate the reaction I get from people when I tell them. My mother-in-law won't come in the house because we have one...you can bet your bottom dollar that I will NEVER get rid of my snake for that simple reason! LOL Plus I really dig him

That sounds beautiful AND you can do a lot of decorating around it. Did you keep the red 50ish cushion? We're looking at carpeting now and I keep gravitating toward the plum and berry colors. But, I don't wanna get locked in so might end up going neutral too.

I can't wait to see the photos! It sounds like you'll have your blinds pretty soon.

Its just that this is a very old house and the windows are odd sizes, I might have to make time to go to the city to have blinds cut for me, but what I really want is those bamboo like pull down shades then can worry about the shears later. Dunno where to find them.

kitsch1 I was never big fan of snakes until we got this one...probably because I never knew a whole lot about them! My hubby decided that he wanted one and friend of his was getting a red-tail, so he gave us this one. At first, I wasn't very thrilled, but I have to say, I really like him! Once I got over the initial fear of being bit and realized he couldn't eat me (lol) I actually enjoy handling him.

btw, my 2 1/2 year old digs him too, I have a ton of pics of him with the snake around his neck...that really wigs my MIL out

You guys are cracking me up with the MIL stories. I'd be the one wigged out in this case! LOL Snakes just feel uggy...

Kel I don't know if there are Home Depots where you live but I noticed just last week that they carry a bamboo-like shade that they'll cut to fit. It seems like they had 3 or four colors to choose from. I can't remember the price except that it was pretty inexpensive. In fact, I think it was cheaper than blinds. Good luck on it - it sure sounds like fun!

Personally, snakes give me the willies and I would never have one in the house. However as a gardener I know they are very helpful and would never harm one, that's just plain dumb. We don't have any poisonous snakes here, just the little garter type.

Last Fall a friend stopped in for a visit. He brought his 14 year old son. The boy took off his sweatshirt while he was inside. The sweatshirt ended up in a pile laying on the couch. After a few minutes I noticed the sweatshirt was moving. Since this did not seem right I brought it to everyone's attention. By now you must have guessed, the kid's pet snake was in a large pocket in the sweatshirt. Now I check the kid's pockets when He shows up...

Wow, that's so cool, I didn't know you guys had snakes!! I really like snakes a lot! I think they feel nice and smooth. Kaf do ya kiss him on the lips too? LMAO! I bet I would!! Last year when I was on tour we went to this place near Boston I think, called "SpookyWorld" and I had my picture taken holding this huge boa who was partially hanging around my neck... ya know, I was doing my best Alice Cooper imitation It was great fun but one of the girls from the production company with us was almost fainting from fright, literally. I guess maybe it's a kind of phobia?? I myself get freaked by heights and enclosed places. Not but snakes. I think they are rather beautiful. In the recording studio I used to record at, there were two big pythons... Monty and Junior. (Junior was not so junior, he was quite large as a matter of fact.) And it's true, they didn't bark or make any noise during recording sessions.

ROFLMAO Rocker! I don't kiss him on the lips, cause I am not that brave yet, LOL! I kiss him on his flat little forehead! I do like to have him around my neck while I am on the computer, it's sorta like having a neck massager!
