I’ve only been with AW a few weeks, but it’s been fun posting here on the RT. I’m a small seller right now and really can’t afford any more fees. So, I’ve jumped aboard the train with “boots” and some others and we’re heading on out. We’ve actually already found a new neighborhood, so I’m going to settle in there and see how things go. And this place has a “Diner.” Imagine that, instead of a round table, I’m going to be hanging out at a diner – I sure hope they have as much chocolate there as I’ve been able to get here!

I didn’t get to know everyone here as well as I would have liked to, but I think the people here are a great! I’ve seen some serious discussions and silliness too and I’m glad I had the opportunity to hang out here, even if it was for a short time.

If anyone wants to come visit the new neighborhood, please feel free to email me.
My email address is [email protected]

Take care all and thanks for keeping me company these past few weeks.

Christina

Christina...oh, please stick around. The boards will remain free (Mark says so!)

Would hate to see you go so soon. It's wonderful to have other chocoholics around to commiserate with!

Just dropped by the Auction Diner site.

I thought the AD site was designed on a "train" theme, was loosely run, and with much head-banging?

Yes, and all former members are required to re-register under the new regime, which means that combustible felines no longer exist.

njrazd,

We've got a party going on at the diner. kiheicat just popped in but had to run out to pick the kids up from school. She'll be back later I'm sure.

I think the folks at the diner might be breaking out the bubbly for us - we're going to liven that place up!

Ditto to Spaz...

Remember that old cliche about greener grass on the other side?

BTW, if you don't think the new owner of AuctionDiner is interested in making money, well, did you know the word "gullible" isn't in the dictionary?

Hey Julsey & Spaz,

I'm still new to AW, but I tried it and liked it. The only thing wrong now is the fees. I don't know how the new site will work out, but I won't know unless I give it a try. Seems that others have the same idea too.

I don't have a problem paying someone to use their services, but I do have a problem with a site charging Final Value Fees when they're only offering a listing and photo service. They're not hosting my auctions so why should I pay the FVF?

I don't have the experience that many of you have with the various auction sites and services like AW and I certainly appreciate that you have shared your learning experiences here. But I guess I just have to have my own learning experiences and I'm open to exploring different venues that will help my business get off the ground.

When I become a power seller and have a lot more experience under my belt, I hope I take the time to share with others as you have done here.

If you have information that might benefit me, please email it if you are inclined to do so. But I also ask that you don't ridicule me for exploring other pastures, whether they're greener or not.

And since many people here are in the same boat as I am, they may find that exploring other options is better for their profit margins than biting the bullet and paying the fees that will be charged here on AW.

Thank you!

Christina

Some things just aren't worth the price.

Bidbay is one of them.

But, I hate to rain on anyone's parade, so enjoy your new digs, cmhaas.

Shoshanah - you mean there are two Auction Diners??

cmhaas - oops, I hope you don't think I meant the "gullible" comment as an insult toward you. I meant it generally and just because people are so often taken in by freebies. I've been less than impressed by the new ownership of the AuctionDiner I thought was being discussed... but if another exists perhaps it deserves consideration. I agree about the FVF, by the way. AW is right to charge fees but FVF is a bit over the top.

Durned spelling errors!

Hi Christina --

Honestly, no ridicule was intended, and I'm sorry if you took it that way.

If there's one thing I've learned after spending a couple years at AW, it's that this site offers the best user to user support there is, hands down. On no other board can you find both decent, casual chat (on most days, at least ), and a good bit of auction advice/info. I don't know about the image hosting aspect, as I've never used either site for their auction services, but I fully agree that folk's need to find what works best for them.

Just hope you're not wearing your best pair of shoes when you explore that particular pasture, Christina.

spaz,

I've got some company from the RT over there so I guess we're all in for a learning experience.

And I'll be sure that I don't wear my "Sunday best"!

Thanks for the input.
