You guys are going to get a kick out of this. I used to work for a bank in downtown Toledo, OH. I was on the 7th floor in the Trust Dept. way back in the corner. One day in 1989 right before my son's birthday, on payday no less, my wallet and all the money I was going to spend for his birthday, was stolen out of my desk. I was just beside myself. Today - 12 years later - I got a phone call from the head of security from the Courthouse in Toledo (which is right across the street from the bank). They found my wallet and all the credit cards and pictures, in the RAFTERS of the Courthouse!! I'm driving there tomorrow to claim it! Isn't that just amazing? No one knows how it got there. Workers found it all covered with dust and grime when they were working on the electrical system! They recognized one of my pictures in the wallet who was a friend of mine and an attorney, and hunted me down through him. It's SO bizarre. I had to share that with you guys. See? Never give up hope!

Muriel...what a great story! Though I'm sure it was a real pain for you when it happened.

Did they mention my wallet that got stolen from my office in Paterson, NJ back in 1977?

By now, some of the credit cards could be collectable.

A wallet was stolen at my office one day and it was found a few months later in the ceiling of the washroom.

The police say that the thief probably stole the wallet-went the the bathroom--took the money etc --and then ditched the wallet to get rid of any evidence and they calmly strolled out.

The only reason it was found up there was because we had a burst water pipe.

Zazzie - That is EXACTLY what happened! They found it in the ceiling of the women's restroom on the first floor of the courthouse. The day my wallet was stolen, there were two girls spotted near my office that shouldn't have been there. They probably took the money, went across the street to the courthouse restroom, and threw the wallet up in the ceiling. Amazing, eh? But why not just throw it in a dumpster? Go figure.

Heres another lost and found story that is really weird and maybe you'll think I'm making this up but I'm not.About seven years ago I lost a diamond ring that I had gotten from my grandmother when she died.I looked all over for it and have continued to look for it for many years and in the back of my head I just figured that I must have sucked it up in the vacuum cleaner or something.I had also lost an old crochet book of my grandmothers that I loved because it had patterns in it that you could not find anywhere.(Doilies and tableclothes)I had at one point lent it to someone and thought that they never returned it.Well,in Jan.I was in my jewelery box and guess what was there. Now I have been in that box many times and that ring was not there. And to top it all off last week I was in the hall closet(that I go in all the time)guess what book was there.I know this sounds hard to believe but it's true.

Cool story! So happy for you Muriel.

I wish someone would have found my purse that was stolen from me in a very well-known children's hospital X-Ray room where I was with my very sick infant son. Can you imagine what scum would do something like that! It took me months to replace all the paperwork I had in there plus the house and car keys, but what hurt most was the little note my husband wrote to me that I had saved for years and the pics of the kids that I could never replace.

Can't imagine how a theif's mind works.

Well I am missing something I'd like to have back.
My baby book.
It disapeered from my home 9 or 10 years ago and I have no idea how or why or who.
Total mystery.

VM: I'll check with courthouse security and see if they'll check on that, ok?

By the way, did you see the thread I directed to you? It has been pushed down pretty low on the RT totem pole.

Hi Muriel, I saw the thread but was t-i-r-e-d.
I think what is going on is personal to you as opposed to affecting the collective because I do not have my baby book.
I have also lost some weight which I hope does not come back!
