posted on March 2, 2001 11:11:01 AMnettak I got your boxes today full of fantastic Aussie sweets, cookies, snacks and even my very own boomerang!
oh what glorious heaven the chocolate Tim-Tams are divine, that was the first thing I tried, then a Cadbury chocolate covered koala bear with caramel inside ... but I digress
THANK YOU so much for all the good stuff, it was just what I needed today to pull me out of the blahs with this flu.
let's see, now I know what iced Vo-Vo's are, and there's Fizz Wizz sherbet powder(too funny, sounds vaguely naughty, doesn't it?), loads of chocolate bars, a Cherry Ripe bar, Minties, Pavlova Mix and much much more.
The piece de resistance is.... The Vegemite & Crispbread Snackabouts! LOL it's so cute I'm not even going to eat it I'll just keep it on my desk.
Wait, there's more! A cute koala bear keychain which is now on my purse, a G'Day Mate shot glass for late nights at the AW party, and a koala bear thermometer fridge magnet proudly residing on my fridge at this moment. And books about Australia and Australian recipes and coasters and more. I'm going to have fun reading the books.
You're a sweetheart nettak and extremely generous, I thank you so much. I found one good side of this flu, I have a better idea of what might be good to send you from America, now that your parcels came before I went shopping for your treats. (I'm so sorry I've barely been out of the house since I got back. Can't wait to get your stuff together though, and I'll let you know when it goes out)
I took pictures of the loot too, hope to post one here later.
{{{{nettak}}}} thank you mate
ummm, I know someone I want to share some tim-tams with

Enchanted the violet crumble is best eaten in small bites. Just let it flake off into your mouth and savour the taste. It is delish.........yum
I still have a few thing to send, that could not go in that parcel. I forgot to put fruit tingles in didn't I?? Anyway you will get the rest in the next couple of weeks.
Try out the lammington recipe. I would have sent you a pack of lammingtons but did not think they would make the distance. LOL You can not go past this great Aussie taste.

Wow, isn't it amazing how things happen enchanted?? I've had a rough few days myself and Pharlap's package to me arrived yesterday! It too lifted my spirits It sounds like Netta was right in the we got a lot of the same stuff I'm still trying to figure out where to put my koala keychain so I can enjoy it, forever!
I was kinda lost as to what to send back to Pharlap myself and like you Enchanted, I got plenty of ideas from what she sent me. I don't know about you, but I'm going to include several items that are unique to the southwest since that's where I live. I need to go out and find some cactus jelly
Oh, and I knew you were getting a boomerang!! Netta, you sneaky girl! I guessed right and you threw me off track.
Cheers to our newfound, crazy and wonderful friends in Australia!

Okay Mouse, you bring the goodies along. I can't bring any sweets (tim tams or fruit tingles ect), because I had a major craving for a smoke and I ate them. I am sticking to fruit tonight.
I am sorry enchanted they were part of your second care pack. I promise to replace all of it and send it early next week. LOL It was just talking about everyone not smoking made me think more about the dreaded cigs than I have in a couple of months. I am over it now and will not turn back. I just get fatter because I eat chocolate at every turn.

You are so nice - Keep going on the cigerettes, don't falter. (Some people are so nasty you just wish the miserable things worked faster.) Did you put any of the eucalyptus honey I was asking about in her pack? I was wondering about bad relations with the native people - you guys didn't offer them vegemite did you?

Gravid I have no intention of going back to smoking. I will use my chocolate as a comfort food. LOL
No I did not put honey in Enchanted's care pack.
What do you mean about the native people?? Are you referring to the Aboriginals in our country? If so I don't have any problems with them or bad relations for that matter. As a matter of fact my sister in law is part aboriginal and so is my niece and goddaughter.
A lot of what you hear is rubbish. Some people have a problem with people of different colour, but they will have a problem with anyone, so we don't worry about them at all, you get jerks all over the world.
As a nation we are so multi cultural we can not afford to be biggotted or racist. Most of us are a mixture of different cultures and races. We may have been born in Australia and our children may have been born in Australia, but we still have roots that go way back to other cultures.
I think you will find that the Aboriginals love vegemite as well.
I forgot how to spell, it must be getting late.

Yes but I meant to eat.
Reminds me of the story of how chili was invented. Seems this Texas cowboy was traveling and came on the camp of a sheepherder in Colorado and dismounted and came to the fire asking if the man would care for some company. The sheepherder welcomed him and gestured to the coffee pot on the fire and said help yourself there Tex.
That's mighty kind of you and he proceeded to take a spoon and dig into the pot of liniment
he was using on the sheep's feet. Being too polite to correct his mistake he even answered how to make it and started a whole new cuisine.
