My husband brought home a discarded computer from work & it tryin' to get it up and functioning for the kids (NOT an easy task when you have an 8 year old circling the room askin' "Is it done yet, daddy" repeatly over & over & over & well, you get the point!)....Any help would REALLY REALLY be appreciated (AGH, he's moved over here & is now askin' Mom if Dad "found the problem" yet!!!...HELP!).....
I have an IBM 300PL running Windows 98. My monitor is a NEC Multisync E700. The video controller for the computer is "S3 Incorporated Trio3D". In Windows, under "Settings", "Control Panel", "Display", it lists the Display adapter (driver?) as "NEC Multisync E700 on Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)" and the settings are 16 colors and 640x480 pixels. I am unable to change the pixel setting at all, and the only choice under colors is 16 or 2 colors. Not, sure if it matters but, when I installed Win98 I was using a different monitor. Windows found this monitor as a plug & play device, when I plugged it in at home...

The drivers for your display adapter is incorrect. You need to find the correct ones and install them. Should have been on a disk or CD that came with the computer. Or go to the card manufacturer's webpage. I think that would be Diamond for the Trio3D or I just found an interesting site:
