The Guardian is one of my favorite sources of news related to
the United States. I first learned about it when you posted a
link about another topic and I've been reading it every day.
One interesting thread there, The US is getting like the old USSR -
One poster observed that the vice-president is in and out of the hospital, and the president less comprehensible than Yeltsin after 10 bottles of vodka."
And on a more serious thought,
"Bush's rise to power seems almost like the Machtergreifung" [check out the procedure by which Hitler came to power - the stepwise grabbing of power from the parliamentary institutions - remembering that Bush with the Reublican majority does not necessarily need to do anything to enjoy considerable power.
