Oh please.
Read my lips...Iran Contra.
Corporate Bendover.
You guys think Clinton was a crook?
LMAO
Bush took money from so many corporations he'll be dead before he's done paying back in legislation that is doing no one besides the fortune 1000 any good.
And you guys argue about guns and abortion.
So while you sniffle over religion, guns and "free enterprise" corporate welfare is rollling through on a scale you guys can't imagine.
Unless your living off a trust fund, leave the weak arguments at home. Pay attention to congress.
Yoiks.

Exactly right, Capriole! Surely nobody actually believed Dumbya when he made that campaign promise. There's alot of payback that he owes to the big energy producers (translate that to "payola". I must say I "love" how he uses the California Energy crisis as a scapegoat for his campaign lies. Does he honestly think everybody is as stupid as he is? Nevermind, don't answer that...

PAH-LEESE!!
"I did not have sexual relations with htat woman." Technically true! But in practical terms, a misdirection at best, a lie at worst. And so they tried to Impeach him for it.
But when Dubya makes a full-Personal-Promise to do something in order to get your vote, and then BETRAYS those voters by turning against them - it isn't a lie,"It's a campaign promise!" Like as if that's exempt from Telling The Truth!
"It is a strong indication that the Bush administration is kowtowing to the oil and coal industry and is not listening to science or public opinion."
Dubya's Masters pulled his chain and made him LIE and BREAK PROMISES to the AMERICAN PEOPLE! Therefore, he is no better than Clinton! So much for bringing respectablility to the White House - Hah!

Read my lips. This is not about Bill Clinton. Sheesh! You "Bush People" just can't get over Bill Clinton, can you? Newsflash! It's old news! You guys keep harping on him like you're the jilted lover or something. Get over it, willya?

This recent development shouldn't surprise any one, the prez is just carrying on a family tradition. His father was instrumental in Clean Air Act becoming law. He then appointed Mr. Dan to chair a committee to figure out how to compromise the law to the advantage of the largest violators (Big Oil Money at work)

I don't know about this board, but I can tell you there are a lot in state offices in Idaho, and they're busy right now trying to figure out how to spend a record budget surplus.
Prosperity has transformed the Idaho Republican Party into a bunch of free-spenders.
Kempthorne's biggest applause line was a pitch to spend $91 million on public buildings in every cranny of the state. "This will launch a massive public works project with construction taking place at every single university and college campus in Idaho," he boasted with a pride of purpose in taxpayer-bought edifices that would have done Franklin D. Roosevelt proud.
House Democratic Leader Wendy Jaquet of Ketchum, who commended Kempthorne for winning over the tax-cutters, noted the irony of the Republicans celebrating new spending after founding careers on fiscal prudence. "It's a chicken in every pot," she said. "It's a Christmas tree."

MrPotatohead,
Hilarious. And not so hard on the ears.
Why not have tax money go back to help the people who paid it?
I have been to Idaho, eastern washington, etc there is a lot of poverty there.
Pillquote:
"None of this is to suggest Kempthorne hasn't carefully and wisely allocated the state's tax fruits. He has. This budget is big, progressive, and far-reaching. It will do much good, in the short- and long-term."
Doesn't seem out of sorts. Kind of ...Ohmygawd...Democratic!
What would be worse? Corporate welfare to bring in a business that adds little in the way of jobs but expects huge tax benefits [b]and[b] lots of infrastructure?
Seattle was scr*wed without a kiss over the baseball stadium. Our sales taxes and hotel taxes go a large part to support that deal.
City council is so pro-boutiquing of the downtown that they made the area around Nordstroms into a high crime danger zone that Hud spent money on them! I tell you it was nothing of the sort.
Anyhow, I guess I am so tired of "taxandspend" tripe getting blurted out like a knee-jerk.
Not only that, but here's a fact: Back before liberal became a four letter word, there used to be liberal republicans and conservative democrats. Holy cow!
Doesn't seem out of sorts. Kind of ...Ohmygawd...Democratic!
Hush, now- "Democrat" is a four letter word in these parts, don't you know? (Not that I am one, but that's hardly the point.)
It's okay, though, to act as a Democrat as long as you call yourself a Republican. In a local election last fall, a woman running as a Republican was elected to the city council. In past elections, she had been defeated twice (at least), running as a Democrat and an Independent. If you can't beat them, join them.
More from Gov. Dirk:
I understand the need to continue our efforts to help rural Idaho by taking swift action. That's why I specifically earmarked $3 million in the Department of Commerce budget to begin the first-ever, state-only grant program for rural infrastructure development.
As Idahoans, we must respond to these people. We cannot let their jobs disappear and their communities wither away. These people want to keep their families in these communities. These people are proud. They're not looking for a handout. They're asking us to help, so that they can help themselves.
I especially like the part about the "first-ever, state-only grant program". You've got to love that- a "Republican", proud of being first with an idea to spend money. FDR would be proud.
I guess what pisses me off the most is that I (along with hundreds of others) have been laid off (myself, more than once), due to changing situations within the company and the economy. There was no call for our assistance from the government (and I expected none). I got on with my life and found something else to do, but now, some other people (in this state filled with "rugged individualists"- hah!) want to take dollars from my pocket, that they may continue to live in the style in which they've become accustomed.

Just one question. How do you legally lie? Did Clinton legally lie when he said he had no sexual relations with Monica. Did Bush SR. Legally lie when he said "Read my lips?" etc. i did not know there were laws that divided lies into legal and illegal ones. Enlighten me!!

A good question that I'll be happy to answer.
Back when the subject of a Presidential Lie to the American People was all the buzz before the Imperachment hearings for Clinton, it was brought up that any number of previous presidents had also bald-faced lied to the American people -- so why pick on Clinton? The answer was that the other Presidents had lied to the American people as a matter of National Security and Clinton's evasiveness did not fall under that defintion. There was one or two other circumstances that also qualified as being acceptable for a President to Lie -- but no one has suggested that Campaign Promises are among them.
