I was seriously depressed when the cartoonist retired the strip and Calvin & Hobbs stopped being on the front page of the colour comics on Saturday.

I still haven't gotten over it. I have ALL the books. And I considered getting a Calvin tattoo. No kidding. What a sad, sad day when that comic strip ended.

I think I related to that strip so well since I have raised 3 boys, and have cats. I know that Hobbes is a toy and not a real cat, but his "actions" are so real!

When my kids went to a private Christian school, my oldest son had an assignment to memorize a poem and recite it to the class. He wanted to do one of the poems from a Calvin book but the teacher said no.

I can't remember which poem it was, and he isn't here right now to ask...

Totally off topic...I'm watching the Cleveland Indians play on TV, and Russell Branyon just hit a Grand Slam!!!!
