I wonder if that is what the call a "Gaggle of Geese" how many does it take to make a gaggle. This is not to be confused with chortling (gaggle has nothing to do with that)A Skein of Geese is what they are called when they are in flight!
Oh so many questions so few who are interested in answering!! Just like politics!
edited to say:
What a delightful shot for the spring season.

gravid, I don't know about the green cards, but they sure do leave "green" calling cards!...these are major grass eating machines!
We have a pond by my husbands office...NE Ohio...geese, herron and assorted other critters.

I'm not certain if this guy is "legal" or not, but he's our resident fisherman.
In the early 1990s a pair of herrons started nesting near Akron in the Cuyahoga River valley...today the nests number in the hundreds. They are a beauty to behold in flight. Elegant creatures if you're not a fish!

I agree that herons are beautiful while flying. The entertaining thing is watching them crash land into the trees where they nest. I've watched them do this several times. They're so large that they can't just land on an individual limb, they just fly straight in the tree and grab whatever they can.

Thanks - My wife and I have lived in Akron.
We see a lot of birds here in MI and when we go to the west coast of Florida.
She has a ledge just outside her 3rd floor corner office that is frequented by buzzards.
They are so dumb thay fly into the reflection in the window to attack it and knock thenselves out.

Silly birds!
I must admit I waste alot of time at work when the baby geese are born....they are so much fun to watch and see grow. They are so funny when they start learning to fly...they use the pond for take offs and landings....softer than crashing on the grass.
Anyone else have baby critters? Photos?
edited cuz I can't spell
