Bugs Bunny for me was a classic cartoon character, he was the king of Warner Bros cartoon characters, and Warner Bros were the king of cartoons.

Today's politically correct world does seem to be getting more and more complicated. I saw that the cartoon network is pulling several of bugs bunny's cartoons because of racially charged scenes. All I can say is thank God that Elmer Fudd was white or some truly classic cartoons would have been lost. Learn more about that racial rabbit from this ABC News article.

Oh man!! I love the old cartoons! Remember the drunk mouse that got chased by the electric razor? The elephant that sat in the tree for the bird, nesting on the egg? How about my favorite character of all...the doofus vulture...ahem..."Ohhhhh...Im out to catch mahself a bumblebeeeeeeeee, ahyuk ahyuk". LOL! And foghorn leghorn, pepe le pew chasing penelope...so many cool toons back then

Edited to spell pepe's "le", before krs catches it.

I'm so glad they haven't found life on Mars. Bug Bunny making a fool out of Marvin the Martian was one of the cartoons I loved. If there were Martians to protest how they were portrayed that would be another cartoon pulled because of a 'racially charged scene'.

I have noticed some stations are cutting or have stopped showing the Road Runner cartoons (My absolute farvorite). Supposedly there is too much violence. RIGHT!

I remember there was a rumor some years ago (or maybe it wasn't a rumor, I don't know) that Bill Cosby had bought the rights to the Little Rascals for the sole purpose of preventing any future rebroadcasts due to the "pickaninny" portrayal of Buckwheat and the other black character, Hymie.

What about the old Popeye cartoons with the "Japs" and "Nazis" stereotypes....although they may be offensive to some, these toons are a part of US history, and reflect the times in which they were created.

Just don't try to sell them on eBay. Now it is even against the rules to sell news reels or documentaries about that era. I suppose that would apply to magazines that document the war years also. It even applies to coins struck by that government even if they have no offensive "symbols" or words. They also have outlawed anything to do assasination so the way I read it things that are preserved in the Smithonian to do with the Lincoln or other Presidencial assasinations would not be allowed. I guess the JFK film for example. Or a magazine or paper about the Reagan shooting, which is an item I sold.
