If anyone has ever seen Trading Spaces on HGTV or one of those channels, you'll see two friends fixing up the other's home (a room in the house) with the help of designers, etc.
Today was the first time ever I actually saw one person say she wouldn't have done things the way they were done, but she guessed she could get used to it. This woman had nothing nice to say about the color of the walls, the paintings, etc. You could see the disappointment in the friends' faces and you could feel the coolness surface between them. Personally, I thought this woman was crass as she knew they were being filmed, etc. You would think she would say something nice.

I LOVE that show...and wouldn't ya know I missed it today!!!....I'm always waiting for someone to throw a fit when they see their new digs.....Did ya see the guy who painted over the brick last week???...Painted great lookin' brick purple!!!....He came from a long line of brick masons, and felt after that he would be disowned!!!....
I can't believe what they do to some of the furniture.....Like breakin' the backs outta entertainment cabinets, flipping one upside down & turning one on it's side and attaching new legs....Painting old antiques....Stuff that just CAN'T be undone!!!!.....
Love the old guy...don't care much for the others......

Today they painted a kitchen ugly enamel chartruese! That was the girl that didn't like her living room painted brown with art she hated. She said she thought it would be more of an African theme and really looked and sounded disappointed. The girl with the ugly green kitchen liked her kitchen, or at least she said she did.
I saw that entertainment center! LOL! How about the painted oak cabinets for the living room a few weeks ago - painted in red and green doodads. UGH!!

I agree with Rancher, the older guy is ok, and actually cares about the folks he's working with and for - the other designers are egocentric prima donnas (one "n"?).
I think the problem is that the designers don't understand that between NY and LA is this whole country that really doesn't give a rat's patooty about trendy, etc. (No offense to NYers and LAians).
Did anyone see the one where the short-haired woman designer painted huge dark diamonds on a wall, and the owner said it looked liked the set of the Dating Game? haha
I saw one the other day where she cut out pieces of colored paper (was proud to say they cost her $1.50) and glued them to larger sheets on the wall. She had about 50 of them, thought they were perfectly lined up and straight (not from where I sat though) and called it art! She only glued the tops though so they could wave in the breeze! OY! I think that was the same one where she turned the entertainment center bookcase sideways and added little stubby legs. I feel for the folks.
I love when the paint the countertops. Wonder if the paint will wash or wear off or even affect the food they prepare.

That green kitchen was awful. You could tell the husband sure didn't like it. Why would people do that to their friends?

sadie999 Yeah, that's it!!!....TOO off the wall trendy, really prima donnas, and the blond is a real flirt (I'd use HER to decorate if she "budded" up to my DH the way she does to some of them!..(BTW, I'm a NYer and my decorating is anything BUT trendy! )
Mtnmama....I saw the "art" too!!!...I think those were post it notes with a silver insert...I guess I'm not "chic" but it looked like post it notes tacked to the wall!....I saw that entertainment center! LOL! How about the painted oak cabinets for the living room a few weeks ago - painted in red and green doodads. UGH!! Uh oh, if you're talking bout the cabinets they used for the TV & painted a message inside, outside bein' kinda folk art..uh...um....I kinda liked that look!.....
I've got TIVO ready to roll....now that the show is on at 4:00 (read: kids just home from school time) I keep missin' it!....
