There has to be a trick! Any one have any advise on how to roll one up really tight with only 2 hands. How in the world are you suppose to get one in those tiny stuff sacks? Surely there's a support group for people like me. Any advise?
Thanks!

Oooh, it has been eons since my Girl Scout training was called upon. See if this works for you...Firs fold in third lengthwise, then kneel on the back and begin to roll it up towards yourself...keeping tension on the roll, move backwards off the bag as you keep rolling it closer to you. The tie it off and slip it in the bag. Good luck.....
I can't resist first you wake her up!!

You don't roll a sleeping bag.
You stuff it into the stuff sack.
Just keep stuffin'
(it's true!)
ps...what's it made of?
Down or Primaloft or what?
If it's a big old coleman kind...follow zilvy's advice.

Here's my method:
Remove sleeping bag from store packaging. Discard packaging. Go camping. When finished sleeping, attempt to roll up the sleeping bag and put it in the little sack that came with it. Scream. Stomp on it. Scream some more. Then throw the little sack away. Put the sleeping bag inside a kitchen-size trash bag instead.
Actually, we got so tired of trying to stuff the sleeping bags back into those little sacks, that I just got some heavy cloth and sewed some sacks of our own. Bigger ones!

It's important to empty out anyone who's still sleeping in it before you roll them up!

Little sacks? You mean they actually expect you to put them back in those decorative sacks? ROFLMBO!!
We have 4 sleeping bags and none of us could ever get them back in. The best we could hope for was to roll them up so we weren't embarrassed by them. Most of the time on Scout trips, we would just fold them, put them in the car and roll them when we got home.
Same with the tents. Ours came with a bag that we tossed the first time we took the tent out.

Don't roll up my sleeping bag. I just leave her alone!

Fold like a blanket, throw in vehicle, go home. Much easier that way.

We've got the nylon type of sleeping bags (typcially used for INDOOR sleep overs - not outdoor campin')....Ours have large elastic loops on the closed end that wrap neatly around them...I've never had a problem....My method: I tell the kids to take them upstairs and then have my DH roll 'em up!!!....
Maybe a king sized pillow case would work for you...

I second the "stuff it into the stuff bag' method. That's why it is called a stuff bag.
If the one that came with the sleeping bag is too flimsy for real strong armed stuffing---go to your local camping store and buy one that is a bit more heavy duty.

If you use the big trash bag that leaves extra room for the pillow and of course the stuffed animal you sleep with!

You all must have misunderstood the directions. The little bag is for your teddy bear, hair dryer, mini tv, and 3 liter bottle of diet coke, not for the sleeping bag!
You lay the sleeping bags out on the floor of the kids rooms. If anyone asks why, tell them your children have a mattress phobia and insist on sleeping in them.

keciaarm, in case you really want to know, here's how to re-fold your sleeping bag and get it stuffed into its carrying bag:
1) zip up the sleeping bag
2) lay it out flat
3) fold once length-wise. You should have a very long, skinny sleeping bag now.
4) starting at the foot of the sleeping bag, twist into a tight roll the ends on itself, then move up rolling up the length of the sleeping bag. It is vital to compress the roll by puttting your weight on the roll. It helps to smooth down by hand the roll in fornt of you just as you are about to roll over it. Squeeze, squeeze, squeeze.
5) Very carefully, without letting go of pressure, pull the straps over and around the sleeping bag and pull taunt.
6) Now it will slip easily into the carrying bag.
Hey! Someone had to do tell!

Borillar, that's the method we use, too. Learned how on my first overnight trip -- 8 miles into the mountains -- the next morning when it was time to push on. "How the heck do you get this thing back in the bag?!" "Dunno but if we don't figure it out we have to carry 'em like this."
We figured it out. It was easier.

Step # 1: Make sure that there is nobody still in the sleeping bag....
Edited to add: Oops! Didn't see raycarr's post up there. Great minds must think alike....
