are you familiar with black diamonds? is a clear speck in a black diamond considered a flaw? is it carbon that causes the blackness? it almost sounds like an oxymoron!

Black Diamonds are a mix of terms. A few years ago people threw the things away. All a black diamonds in a carbon, just like white diamonds, but it never cleared up. So to speak. All I know is they do sell lot water in the dessert to a group of very thirsty Tourist. Why do you ask?

a diamond that is totally black with no clear "flaws" would be an interesting, different stone particularly if it was much cheaper than a white one! to me it would be more attractive than a yellow or other color diamond.(i don't mean an "L" stone).

Used to use black diamonds all the time. They are great for shaping a grinding wheel. You see them in industrial applications all the time.
