I especially want to visit the YU STINK section, where kids match odors with the area of the body they come from. The choices are armpits, anus, feet and mouth. Doesnt that sound like fun? Not.

It's a very creative learning experience in Science. I'm sure that all children will enjoy it and learn a lot!!!

Bah, what a mischaracterization, there's nothing in that exhibit about anusses. But I would go anyway, it looks like a lot of fun.

Sorry it took me so long to come back to my own thread..just got off work. I found the website via my local newspaper, who had a story about it. I just typed what the paper stated and didnt actually take the time to read the site itself, since I already read all about it while drinking my morning coffee. I have mixed feelings about the site. It informs kids of a "fun" way about the human body, but as an adult it definetly grosses me out, lol. So, speaking from "already knowing" the functions of the body, and not having any small children left at home since they are married and gone, I find no interest in "smelling" or "feeling" anything of this nature, but if I DID have children at home, I think I would probably take them since it does inform their sponge minds and what they learn there just enhances more of their own knowledge of what make their own bodies "tick".

I saw this exhibit a couple months ago....
At the Oregon museum of science and industries. It was well put
together and very educational....not to mention one the
most popular exhibits in O.M.S.I history....

It looks like fun to me! But then, I have always enjoyed grossing myself out.
My kids would have loved this place when they were young! What little boy wouldn't get a kick out of the "gas machine"? LOL I'd go right now if they had it here. I'd like to try out the intestinal slide.
Makes me laugh just thinking about it!
Weird aren't I? Just goes to show you never really know the people you post with!!

I bought my kids the computer game "Grossology" a couple of years ago. It's a gross, fun way for kids to learn all about bodily fluids (boogers, pee, sweat...) and solids (uh, you know) and functions. It even came with fake barf. After playing it a few times, they did become desensitised, and it wasn't quite as funny any more. Anyway, my point is, yeah, it's gross, but for kids it's funny, and if they have fun learning it, they'll be more apt to remember it. JMHO

This is a travelling exhibit, so check their site (http://www.grossologytour.com/) to see if it's coming to a city near you, if you're interested.
FYI, it will be coming to Seattle in early 2004. I'm marking my calendar; it sounds like fun to me!
