In about 15 minutes my fruit salad will be done. Anyone want some?

You just have to remember to be careful - the watermelon juice will make your keyboard keys sticky!

I would love some! Lots of pineapples! What else is in this Fruit Salad, I can be a real picky eater - so I'm told.

My Mother in Law has Alzhiemer's and is not very interested in eating. Fruit salad is one of the few things she will almost always eat so there is always a half gallon of it in the frig. Good stuff but we don't do kiwi,

That's an excellent list of ingredients.

I love fruit salads unless they try and get too adventurous, like adding papaya.

I learned to make it in a gourmet deli. The secret is fruit salad is all about sweet, not sour. Sour ruins it

The orange juice keeps the apples and such from turning black from oxidation. I avoid bananas because they turn black really fast.

The recipe:

One can chunk pineapple
1/2 watermelon
1 cantaloupe
4 - 5 of each of the other fruits
1/2 lb cherries
1 lb grapes

Peel the watermelon, cantaloupe, kiwi and oranges but not the other fruit. Cut each into bite size pieces, cover with orange juice. Mix well (with bare hands, of course!) Be sure to "steal" plenty of fruit as you clean and cut it.

Enjoy

OK I am absolutely lousy in the kitchen! I do not like cantaloupe but I LOVE pineapple. Can I trade the cantaloupe for a can of pineapple? Or will that ruin it?

One more silly question.....you orginally said it would be done it 15 minutes.....so after you put it all together you have to wait? How long? I guess you put it in the refrigator?

Richie Rich -

There is no way to ruin it! I use canned pineapple. Take whatever you like and double the amount you put in it!

The 15 minutes was because I kept playing around on the computer!

You can eat it immediately once it is done. Keep refrigerated when not eating.

Enjoy

I was at the store - thought about your fruit salad and the neighborhood cook out on the 4th. Thought I could do make that fruit salad.

After putting seedless grapes, nectarines, and cherries in the cart (from Sam's so we are talking a couple pounds of each) decided I really did not need six cans of orange juice, I could get that at the real store. I really did not need 6 cans of pineapple either. Then I seen it... a large can of fruit salad! I bought it! I did buy the fruit I already had in the cart plus bananas.

I put the can of fruit salad in the frig to chill and tomorrow I will put it in a bowl I will throw in some "Sunny Delight" ice cubes and that is how I cook!

I came so close to actually making something, so close! Thanks for the encouragement, just pray you never have to eat something I actually made!

Richie Rich, I like your style!

Actually, I have done something quite similar in the past.

Now, did you buy fruit cocktail or fruit salad? If it looks closer to fruit cocktail when you open it, cut up some of that real fruit and throw it in ....

As for the orange juice, you probably only need a cup or so of it.

YUMMY

The can says fruit salad. Tropical fruit salad. Although I would not know if it was salad or cocktail by looking in the can.

I thought the ice cubed Sunny Delight would be a nice touch. Then I can say I made it, see it did not come that way.

That's how I cook everything.

Well, I thought I bought fruit salad! When I opened the can I noticed it NOW said fruit cocktail. Oh well I put the sunny delight ice cubes it in anyway!

Not bad if I say so my self. Only one question for anyone who knows -

What is the difference between fruit salad and fruit cocktail?

Make my fruit salad. Put in a bowl.

Get out your fruit cocktail. Put in a bowl.

Do a taste test.

YUMMY!

Fruit cocktail doesn't even come in a close second
