I TRIED THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME YESTERDAY AND IT WAS SO NEAT....SUPER FAST AND SUPER DEALING. IT IS SO NEAT TO BE ABLE TO COME DOWN ON A PRICE AND ACTUALLY MAKE A DEAL. MY QUESTION: CAN YOU LIST THROUGH AUCTION WATCH FOR THIS SITE? ALSO ONE QUICK OBSERVATION: I HAD A QUESTION FOR BARGAIN AND HAGGLE AND WAS ANSWERED WITHIN 5 MINUTES BY EMAIL (NOW I CALL THIS SERVICE)

Hi ANGELWOMAN , I can't answer your question
about AW. But, I also sell on Bargain and Haggle and i realy enjoy it. I dont think you will get an answer here? Unless you contact AW directly.
There seems to be a group of people here that
will not let a post about another auction site stay on top or get a decent answer, until their $1.00 sale is over!

I'm shure I will be accused of bashing. But!
You can see by the board for yourself.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

It's an interesting site and format.
Haven't found anything I want there yet though.

I have been meaning to go there and look at this site.I have a shop at Tias and Bargain and Haggle is a new place that we will be able to upload to.

I just wondered how those of you who have been selling there decide what to ask for your item, knowing people will be offering less?It is something I never really considered. Do you start at retail? At ebay - it is almost a matter of putting your asking price as your opening bid. Most of my auctions that have a winner - also only have one bid. This would be different!

Hi, Cathy.
I just received my first purchase through TIAS yesterday and am quiet satisfied with the seller. Will be looking for more from there.

I did go and take a look at items that are similar to what I sell. The prices people are asking are as diverse there as anywhere else. Some are asking double what the same items are selling for on the average elsewhere. Some have maybe a 20% bargaining room(maybe for a quicker sale?).

The only thing with going there and looking is that you still can't tell how well the site is actually doing. Everywhere else- if an item has a bid-you can see it. At Bargain and Haggle the only activity you see are items with rejected offers. They might do themselves a service by putting a sold icon next to items with accepted offers and leave them visible for 24 hrs maybe.Just a thought anyway.

Powerhouse--I just adore Tias and have been there almost 2 years. They are well-managed, promoted and have a dynamite support staff!

FiresideAngler-does your comment mean that the site should recognise your computer when you get there if you remain logged on?

Well, the format is different and I have seen their ads in different places. I will have to just try some items and test the waters so to speak.

Will anyone say what categories they have sold items in? Thanks!

labelle,

I sell a little bit of everything on Bargain and Haggle, but more specifically I do great with Antiques in the $50-200 range and I put a computer up and sold it within 3 hours!

I hope you have as much success as I have been having.

I've been selling on Bidville and B&H and in all honesty have more sales at B&H than Bidville. BUT, customers seem to be better at Bidville. They pay faster. . . *shrugs* I like both sites.

I've made a couple of great buys on B&H. I think it's one of the better "alternative" sites out there. I've had problems, however, selling & collecting payment. Left my first 'poor' feedback for a buyer who drove up the price, then 2 weeks later said she didn't have any $ and wouldn't have any $....she actually asked if I could hold the item for 6-8 weeks!?! She's now left a poor comment for me saying I was impatient. Pretty typical, though, with many "newer" sites.

Tias is The Internet Antique Shops. It is a fixed price venue where you have an indiviual shop. Great people! Fantastic support! If you add .com you can go there.

Here's an interesting & frustrating problem with B&H. If you sell...you are charged a fee, which is fine. However, if the sale doesn't go through (buyer doesn't pay) you'll have to go through all kinds of $&@# to get your fees refunded. I had a buyer not pay for an auction...wouldn't respond to emails (other than the initial contact which she responded to immediately), etc. so I called. Same buyer as I mentioned above in my previous post. Long story short...she wouldn't pay, but I still had B&H charge my credit card for the fees (commission). I couldn't find anywhere on the site where to go for a credit on fees, so I wrote. Almost 10 days later I received an email with the following instructions:

---BargainAndHaggle.com -
Buyer Resolution/Credit Request---
Only one item per request.

#1 - Please note, requests are only taken if no response has been received from the Buyer within 7 days of Sold Date.

#2 - Please note, it is the Seller's responsibility to make initial contact with the Buyer.

#3 - Please note, that if a Buyer has communicated to you that they are not following through with the transaction, we will require the e-mail be forwarded to us to process your credit request.

I guess I am to assume that since I did have contact with the buyer within 7 days of sold date (as mentioned in #1) I am not elible for a credit?!?! Also, on the final point (#3)....because I spoke with the buyer on the phone vs. emails & she stated she wasn't going to purchase the item, I don't have an email to forward to Bargain & Haggle for my credit request.

Very frustrating! We're only talking a dollar or two, but w/the current non-paying bidder epidemic, the dollar or two could add up!

Anyone else with a similar experience....or has anyone ever requested a credit from B&H???? Would love to hear of someone else's experiences....

mslargo,

That's boilerplate text. BargainandHaggle will give you a refund as long as you took those 3 steps which it appears you did. I've received multiple refunds from BargainandHaggle for nonpaying bidders. The refunds were credited in a few days in my case. Nice customer service!!

Thanks for the info on TIAS - checked it out, don't think that is my cup of tea - we have 3 web sites, don't think I need a shop and pay someone else commission, but appreciate the info.

WOW - I listed less than 20 items their today - just received offers on 5 of them tonight already. I've accepted one offer and am "haggling" over the other four. The prices offered were reasonable for starting offers and as high or higher than you could count on consistently on eBay. I love the fact that there are no fees unless an item sells. The 50 cent fee is a bit high for lower end items but I still think I can live with the pricing.

Time to list some more items!

we started listing there before the 4th - skipped free listing day at eBay - and have done quite well so far...
clean - easy to use...
now - we include their address with our end of auction notice from other sites

Thanks for the info. Will give it a try. It's just a frustrating process. I like "online" credit requests.....sending emails with all that info seems like a hassle. I still find B&H to be a quality site....willing to help in any way.

OK, now I need some help on using BargainandHaggle. How the heck do you get to the Ratings page so you can rate somebody??? I've rated people before but now I can't seem to find the darn Ratings page for a listing! Help!

Go to the 'NEGOTIATE' tab. Sign in....and then you should see all your completed BOUGHT and SOLD transactions. There will be a tab by each indicated "RATE THIS TRANSACTION". You'll then be prompted to choose whether to rate the transaction now or later.

I think B and H is easy once you get the hang of it. I also had a heck of a time finding the place to rate buyers.

BargainandHaggle continues to move up the Media Matrix rankings of most visited sites.

In May they were ranked 310. Now in June they've moved up to 217. The rank is based on the number of unique visitors per month. Nice!
