Cuff:

Thank you very much for proving my point to both you and Dimview. You collected certain numbers and reached the ERRONEOUS conclusion that Dimview was focusing on Bidville.

What you don't realize is that Dimview posted a NEW thread DAILY on AW's Yahoo forum providing statistics on Yahoo's Auction site. He started the daily threads in January and continued until at least March 26. Here is one of the threads:

http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=6&id=18950&thread=18950

(Dimview was using the Yahoo statistics he gathered to "prove" that the Yahoo auction site, with the introduction of fees, was NOT a good place for sellers to list. I disagreed with his conclusion as I was doing well on Yahoo. On more than one occasion we argued about our two different conclusions.)

In the interests of a level playing field, I think that Dimview should continue reporting on Bidville statistics for at least for as many days as he reported on Yahoo statistics... that leaves about 2-1/2 more months of new daily Bidville statistics threads for him to start.

Aren't you glad you started this thread.

Why yes, Irene.. I am! I tell ya... we've been saying all along that BidVille MUST be some kind of contender to be classed with the GIANTS!
Thanks for bringing this information forward!

You didnt do enough research I think if you check the yahoo auction threads you will find dim has many many more threads and post about yahoo then any other auction site.

I find his number usefull in a few ways it show each site progress as time passes its good to see these numbers now and then we can see in real time as the next #2 contender comes along....

Well actually, Cuff, what Dimview's statistics threads DID prove was the Yahoo auctions were no longer a GIANT.

However, I am so glad that Dimview now has your total approval for daily statistics threads about Bidville. No more bickering. Hurray!

He does? I don't remember approving of dimview in any way, shape or form.

His numbers are skewed by personal opinion, especially where BidVille is concerned. It is evident to anyone who reads these threads that dimview has focussed all his negative energy into proving I do not know what about BidVille.

Does anyone really know?

I'm amazed that AW allows such vitriolic criticism of a member. (vitriolic = Bitterly scathing; caustic)

Cuff, I'm a financial analyst by training and I've worked with numbers all working life. All statistics can be manipulated to reveal whatever you want - just like you tried to manipulate numbers in your opening post on this thread to further your own agenda. You weaken your own case when you complain about someone else's statistics but then try to manipulate numbers yourself.

The point I've been trying to make, as I posted once before, is that rather than simply take ANY statistics on faith, it makes more sense to do some testing of an auction site instead. Just because a a majority of other sellers (or even competitors) aren't making any sales, doesn't necessarily mean that you can't. I found that out on Yahoo.

Arguing about statistics makes no sense to me.
