Hi,
I have done some reviewing of auction sites & would like to share my findings. I would like other's input of these sites if it is possible for I am doing a report on the online auction industry. The reason I am doing this report is because I am launching a site of my own, ZimBid.com, and would like to see what members like and don't like of other auction sites to better improve my own.

Ebay.com - http://www.ebay.com
Pros - Largest Auction Site
Cons - Too high selling fees

Yahoo! Auctions - http://auctions.yahoo.com
Pros - Also many items
Cons - Have to put a credit card in even to bid

Amazon Auctions - http://auctions.amazon.com
Pros - Large selection combined w/store
Cons - Some people believe it is too complex

Bidville.com, ePier.com, Haggle.com, & ZimBid
Some smaller auctions which are growing. The good things about these
sites is that they offer free basic listings for selling things.

Thanks

eBay ... high fees are only part of the downside to selling on their site. The fierce competitiveness of many sellers and numerous items that are alike means you have to price your item very low to sell it and that makes it very difficult to eek out any sizeable profits.
BV and others ... great place to wharehouse your items and rile statisticans!

I would also like to point out that Bidville is a site that has a very responsive customer service, and the site has been rolling out improvements almost constantly.

Plus they have a liberal policy regarding links in your auctions.

I sold for two yrs on Yahoo. I stayed at Yahoo after fees were imposed because I liked the interface. Then they went control crazy. During the same timeframe I sold off and on at eBay (never liked the interface or necessity to reenter your password everytime you took a breath).

BidVille has the best of both world's and then some. The picture upload can't be beat by either eBay or Yahoo. (It's fast as lightning. Try it). No basic service is charged for. Premier Memberships are CHEAP if you'd like to feature, bold, banner or any of the little extras that draw attention to your auctions. We have an active community message board providing every member of BidVille voice (even the bashers). A lot of the Seller's at BidVille came over from Yahoo or eBay. I am one, and you would not believe what a Yahoo supporter I used to be. I landed at BidVille (word of mouth), I stayed and I'm not alone. What more needs to be said?

I don't think zimbid has ever been mentioned here before.

And, since they only have 4 auctions according to their front page, it wouldn't happen to be your auction site, would it?

According to the whois lookup, it appears to be yours.

If you want to introduce your site to us, you may want to take a different route in doing so.

Regarding Amazon - when Amazon first opened we sold there almost as well as we have on eBay and we have been on eBay since 1996. BUT when they started making changes, opening the Z-shops, etc., that ended it, dead in its tracks and we have not been able to do anything there since, PLUS, it is the ONLY site where we have to readjust all of our auctions to fit their format.

Regarding BidVille, guess we are just weird, we can't sell anything there. We have had “some” success at AuctionAddict, BidBay and Excite.

We are currently using eBay, Yahoo, and some niche specialty auction sites – most of our sales are coming through specialty niche auctions.

We are going to check out B & H and see if it might work for us.

I think it is important for an auction site to establiah a confidence and credibility with potential members.
