Greetings!

I noticed that there have been an increasing amount of message postings concerning Bidville. So many, in fact, that the AW moderators have been locking some and requesting folks to post in pre-existing Bidville threads to prevent Bidville topics from overwhelming the "Other Online Auctions" category. I can understand the staff's concerns, and was just wondering if it might be possible to have a separate "Bidville" forum created...much as there are currently separate forums for Yahoo, eBay and Amazon.

It seems a natural progression to "spin-off" auction site forums when the activity reaches a given level...but I'm not sure what AW would consider that "given level" to be...nor do I know AW's specific policy about the creation of new forum categories.

Does anyone have further info concerning this topic? Thank you!

lorriev,

Should the PTB at Bidville want their own forum at AW, they would have to contact Admin at AW.

Members and moderators take no part in that process, except that you can put the bug in the ear of the Bidville PTB.

Thanks for the info in your reply, joice...it helped point me in the proper direction! I contacted the Bidville staff and passed along your advice to contact AW administration. Bidville's reply, however, indicated that they had already contacted AW several times in the past. According to Bidville, AW was not interested in giving Bidville a seperate forum. Perhaps the activity level was not adequate at that time? Do you have any idea if AW would re-consider the idea now in light of the significantly increased interest displayed on the current "Other Online Auctions" forum?

Thanks so much for your continued assistance, joice!

If they say they have asked, then why has it not happened? I think it is more than asking, it is probably related to the universal search, where I believe companies pay AW?

Can AW clarify their policies? Saying it is a matter of not asking is not right if it takes more than just asking!

Anyway, The Yahoo forum has been averaging something like TWO messages a day! Talk about no traffic.

I suspect it's a matter of money being paid by Bidville to get a higher profile here. Some months ago, users on this forum were demanding that a certain other auction site be given its own forum. Never happened and there were a lot more threads and postings about that site than there have been about Bidville.

After re-reading the moderator's message, I see that it is cleverly worded so that it says they need to contact AW - I imagine also that is to contact to find out how much it costs! It is not just for the asking, although that was the first impression I got from the response. That is obviously not the case. AW is a business, and they have a right to set their policies.

No disrespect intended, but I hardly think Bidville is in the same league as Yahoo, eBay & Amazon. At first glance it would *appear* that Bidville posts somewhat dominate this forum, but a closer look reveals that the majority of Bidville posts, both pro and con, are by the same handful of people.

Rather than create a separate forum, why not just have one thread dedicated to Bidville & post all Bidville related topics to that, since most of the posts are pretty much dealing with the same subjects anyways....

Actually, it should be Ebay, and everything else - The message count on Yahoo and Amazon don't merit their own section either!

Click on "Bargain Hunt" to see the number of postings on that forum.
