I wasn't aware that MSN had auctions. Thanks
for the information. I've got some extra
Linux OS CDs and it sounds like the perfect
place to list them. :^)

I tried to register there 5 times 3 different days last summer. Each and every time when I got to the part where you have to enter your credit card info I got an "illegal operation" error, my browser froze and I had to re-boot to get out. After the 5th failed attempt I said forget it and never returned.
The auctions link back then was under the shopping tab, now I see it's not. I saw no other link to auctions from MSN.com, had to type auctions in their search box to find it today. (Unless I missed the link somewhere, how are potential bidders to know they have auctions?)
When Yahoo announced fees in Jan many people said they were trying Lycos. (It is in the Fair Market network with MSN but the only FM site without FVF's). I stayed on the sideline for 2 months of people complaining about their downtime, glitches, awful customer service & deadbeats. I have rarely heard anyone mention any of the Fair Market sites since. I don't know if those listing there gave up on the FM sites or gave up chat boards.
Hopefully someone with recent experience there will come along to give you an update. You might try site search & see if AW has done any recent articles on MSN.

I list over 2500 products on MSN and Lycos each week. I feel lucky if I get 2 or 3 bids and the ratio of deadbeat bidders is high. MSN makes it difficult to request a refund of closing fees if a bidder does not pay (not impossible, just a lot of work).
I don't think very many people know about their auctions. The MSN home page doesn't even have a link to their auctions (at least I can't find it). I keep listing though because it's free and I already have my spreadsheet setup. All I have to do is change the dates. Maybe some day it will catch on.

It's dead jim. Microsoft millions couldn't compete with eBay. And here everyone said it takes millions to create a viable auction site.
