Thanks.

Of all the "other online auctions" for which a sell-through rate is reported by the auctionsite themselves or that we can calculate from available data, SellYourItem appears to have the highest rate.

Hi dimview,

It seems their progress is slow and steady, which I believe is a good thing. No real spikes and then lulls.

I'm watching all the second tier sites carefully to see where I will do the majority of my listing when I get back into full swing again.

Toollady,

Does SellYourItem have a buy it now feature? If it does, do you believe that you have the auctions sold in this format captured in your numbers?

stavecards,

Yes, sellyouritem does have the buynow feature and yes those auctions are reflected in the sell through. ALL auctions are in the completed section regardless if they are buynow or regular format

What are the fees? I might have to give them a chance.

deichen,

basic listings are free. You only pay for enhancements or when the item sells.

Auctions can be auto re-listed for an additional 3 times automatically.(auction runs a total of 4 times if it doesn't sell)

Length of auction options are 3,5,7 or 10 days.

If you haven't signed up yet, get the ID of a current member(this is one of my IDs there. I go by another for my pretties or check one of the lounges and grab an ID) and use them as a referral to receive a $10 listing credit. (goes toward final value fees or listing enhancements)

They have a pretty comprehensive site map, so if you need to find something out, check there. If not, send an email to support, they get back pretty quickly with a real answer to your question.

If you use Auction Tamer, you can now launch your listings from there. You can also import your auctions from ebay and yahoo or from an excel file or plain text file from word or notepad.

Also, when you do your listing on the sell form, you have a few options. you can submit, submit and save the listting, or just save it.

You can also pick the start date/time of the listing. It will show up in search with the notation that the auction has not yet begun if you pick a date/time other then the current time.

Site runs on real time (eastern time zone) so your auctions shows up within seconds of listing.

stavecards,

Also, the buynow feature over there works a little differently.

If you set a buynow price and someone decides to bid on your auction instead of using the buynow option, and the buynow is less than 25% of the opening bid, the buynow price will bump up so that is it always 25% more than the current high bid.

It never goes away once a bid is made, so anyone at any time can come in and buy it even though there may be a bid on it.

toollady,

We are confining stats including sell through rates to one thread, so please let me know which of the SYI's you would like to keep open. We do it for Bidville, so we have to do it for SYI too.

Thanks,

Joice

Hello Joice,

Not to be a PITA, BUT, There are actually 2 separate threads that have been allowed to remain continue for each secondary site. One for listings and one for sell through.

If we can compromise, Beginning with the new month (I promise, and I'm sure dimview will agree to it as well) we will only have one thread for each of the sites and we will call it Bidville stats, Epier Stats, sellyouritem Stats, etc.

Is that fair enough?

toollady,

Your compromise sounds great and I think we can all live with that. 8 days and counting....

Tool Lady -

Just interested in knowing, if the referral gets $10 in listing credits, how much does the referring member receive? I've seen you hawk your ID to people on these threads before so you must be getting something out of the deals or do you work for SYI?

I've never asked anyone to use my ID before and don't know the monetary advantage of doing so. (this is not my ID on SYI) If it's worthwhile I may start hawking mine too.

JMHO2,

If you are a user at sellyouritem, you would know the referring remember receives $5 toward their listing fees.

I don't see where I have "hawked" my ID as you so eloquently put it here. There were 2 people that asked for a referring ID and I provided mine. I've never asked anyone to use my ID as a referral unless they have asked for one first.

If you look at my post above to deichen, you will see I even suggested she grab the ID of someone posting in the lounges. If I was hawking my ID, I wouldn't have even mentioned to them about checking the site for an ID for a referral. I'm sure if I were hawking my ID or being in any way promotional, the mod squad would be sure to let me know.

Here is the quote in case you may have missed it:

"If you haven't signed up yet, get the ID of a current member(this is one of my IDs there. I go by another for my pretties or check one of the lounges and grab an ID)"

Blow me over, I never saw the referral fee of $5 on the site. I'm just a bidder there and don't pay too much attention to chats or referrals. Guess I should be more careful about reading sites so I can make some money there as well.

I sell on other sites, but just use SYI for bidding. Hope that makes sense to you.

Oh and I didn't miss a word in your post, so I'm sorry if you felt the need to reiterate.

I used the word hawking because I've seen you tell others to use your ID before. Sorry if you were offended by my poor choice of wording. I use that word to describe advertising, etc.

Have a nice day.
