Epier has a nice looking banner going on auctionwatch. Maybe it will help them! I wish one of these "free" sights would emerge on top.

Items are mostly on the free sites for one reason, the items can not sell on pay sites because they are usually common items at prices that would not sell on a pay site. The only chance to sell them at those prices is at a free site because you can list them forever till a buyer shows up at no cost to the seller.

MAN you guys with yer "this is whys". I have some very high quality and high $ items on epier. When will you learn MUDSLINGIN' dont do anything but show everyone your lack of principles. I did not do well on Ebay & Yahoo, so I moved to Epier, not saying those 2 others sites are bad guys, I just did not do well there. Its great if others are.

Russell,
Yep, you are right we have our negative mudslingers here! Makes you wonder, huh? Have a great day!

Banners eh? Not a bad thing really...Epier could use some exposure
Nevertheless, I'd be reluctant to consider epier a "free" site. "All users will be expected to become verified" is a quote from Mr. Kim. Verifacation costs the user money - thus, the concept of epier being a "free site" is out the window.
Bash free sites if you like - and praise "pay" sites if you like. For the moment at least, Epier would seem to fall in between. You can still sell on there for free if you like, but surely the pressure to become "verified" or "premium" will soon become much greater.
Meanwhile - as I mentioned above, the Banner ads are not a bad thing...

Rustybore,
I think the banner ads on AW were great! I hope you didn't misunderstand me. I will probably not become verified if Epier pushes. I think it will be a big mistake. They will lose alot of people. JMHO

The banners are GREAT and much needed advertising!! Now where else are they advertising at???
Epier is NOT a "free site." When all the features were free then it TRUELY was a "free site." But still even with charging for features it USED to be a basically "free site." Nowadays you must be "verified" to have any voice and if you want fair treatment then you must be "premium." If you want preferential treatment you must be a "storefront."
It has been refered to by some as a "classed site" where the storefront members are first class citizens, premium members are second class citizens, verified members third class citizens, and unverified members have been refered to as "freeloaders."
As for the comment about "the items can not sell on pay sites because they are usually common items at prices that would not sell on a pay site." HOGWASH!!! The sellers list them on the "free sites" to MAKE MORE MONEY!!! Granted that does not happen 100% of the time but if you pay no listing nor FVF, then all the money you make from the sale is YOURS and is PROFIT. If you think they are "common items" then you haven't looked at a free site lately!!! They have the SAME, if not BETTER, items as the large money grabbers!!! Frankly the quality and quanity of items is superior on the smaller sites. And the comradeship is PRICELESS!!

I stand by my statement that most items on free sites would not sell on ebay and that's why they are parked there. The competition at ebay is fast and furious and very low prices are the result. This fuels the high numbers of new buyers coming to ebay and when they visit a free site and see the high prices they must laugh out loud.

bidsbids---have to disagree with you! "fast and furious and very low prices are the result" HA!! LOLOLOLOL!!! you haven't seen ebay lately then either??? maybe certain categories might be fast and furious but most are slow and lacking...low prices??? HEHEHEHE!! in what category??? with $20up to feature where are those low prices??? with paying to list and FVF where do you see low prices at??? i'd like to know so i can check them out!!! of the auctions i've been looking at lately on ebay its cheaper for me to buy new than it is to buy used!!! i can get better stuff at a cheaper price from the smaller sites and that's exactly what i'm doing...i only shop ebay when i can't find what i want at any other site
so what if the person relists the item "ad infinitum"...as long as it sells in the end who really cares??? only the seller and the buyer as they are the only ones who count!!!
Pam's Place Check us out!!

Why would I want to check out *any* seller that just keeps on relisting? I've seen his/her wares, no need to look again, it's going to be the same stuff, had there been anything interesting to me the first time, I would've bid. No need to go back.
I completely disagree with the "as long as it sells in the end who cares" sort of thinking--- I believe that mindset is damaging to a site in the long run. Sure the "items listed" stats look very nice, temporarily, until everyone bolts because nobody is bidding, or even looking in anymore. They've seen it already.

So Relayerone if i follow your logic then there are NEVER any new buyers??? according to your logic there are only old repeat lookers that have seen it all before??? that sounds a bit off...just because you have seen the merchandise one time does NOT mean that it won't be "fresh" and interesting to the next person...also following your logic that means you have NEVER relisted any item that you sell??? WOW!!!! i'm impressed then...there doesn't seem to be many sellers that have such a fantastic sell thru rate that they ONLY list an item one time and poof its sold!!! i will definately have to look for your auctions to see "fresh" merchandise each time i look!!! heck even my hubby with his 95% sell thru rate relists an item sometimes!!!

SO what being said is that you only have been to your local super market once or twice because you already seen it all and most items on the shelf never change ???
You cant eat out to much either since most resturunts are basically the same they chage the design on the menu but basically the items on it stay the same they do have daily speacials but the ones that sell the best get repeated over and over time and time again !!!
You have never looked in a catalog more then once ever ????

Here's what you said on this very forum, back on Aug. 03--
i'm sure everyone thinks giving each other "sympathy" bids is NOBEL and HONORABLE but its a joke and does nothing...we need NEW buyers!! selling to each other is fine and dandy but it doesn't put money in our pockets
I couldn't agree more, ePier *does* need new buyers, badly, but is relisting endlessly the way to go about getting them? I'm only speaking for myself, obviously, but as a buyer I'm only going to click on a sellers auctions so many times if the inventory never changes. Enough sellers doing that and the site turns into a "cobweb" site-- full of untended auctions, that simply auto-relist at the end of the cycle, over and over and over, maybe even after the sellers death! LOL
BTW we *are* talking about ePier in all of this, right? I just had a look at your husbands auctions on ePier, that 95% sell through rate you quote had me shaking my head in admiration...except...he has 175+ auctions running at the moment with zero bids. Looks like that formidable sell through rate is about to take a severe nosedive.....
dman3-- you're being silly. I never said anything about a simple *relist*, or two or even three, (although I think that after 3 relists with no bids that should tell you something about the item) my comment was towards pcornacchione, who stated: "so what if the person relists the item "ad infinitum"...as long as it sells in the end who really cares???"-- "ad infinitum" being the sticking point to me. To address your "grocery" point---Do you buy your groceries online? I know some people do, but if the online grocery store only ever sold one type of soup, one type of cold cut, one brand of soda etc. etc. without ever rotating or changing its inventory how long before you get fed up and start looking elsewhere for groceries? We go back to the grocery store over and over again because number one we *have* to eat and also because there *is* a wide variety, and new products come out all the time, different fruits and veggies are available according to the season etc.
It's a silly analogy to be sure, but you brought it up hehe
Bottom line to me-- relist forever all you like, they're *your* auctions after all, but spare us the whine and cheese because you're not getting any bids, and nobody is looking at your items--- lots of people are getting bids on the smaller sites, with exactly the same chances for exposure as yours-- if you're not getting any bids and no page hits, maybe it's time to try to analyze why that is instead of blaming the site itself.

relayerone....epier!?!?!?!? LOLOLOLOL!!! this smidgin of advertising has in no way made a difference there yet....besides that is NOT the only site we (hubby and i) sell at....his 95% sell thru rate is on Yahoo....for epier's sell thru rate refer to dimview's post
as for your comments to dman3....so the grocery store thing was off the wall but it was funny and i enjoyed reading it!! besides in the end it IS ONLY the seller and the buyer that matter!!! what you or anyone else thinks about relists is insignificant and immaterial....what is "trash" to one person is "treasure" to another.
and there is no whine and cheese from me....i sell items continually....a little on each and every site....i have plenty of page views on each site and "frankly Scarlet, i don't give a *BLEEP*" about what anyone else thinks UNLESS they are the BUYER!!!!
granted i don't like the "pay" sites, but until the "free" sites attract more buyers i will continue to sell wherever i please
so in closing relayerone, don't be so quick to judge those that relist....i'm sure we (royal we) aren't doing it for you!!!! and try to have a nice day!!!
