Found these auction statistics on another website call Top9.com (a web ranking site). These stats are dated Jan., 2001 and are for the month of December, 2000:
1. eBay.com
2. BidBay.com
3. Switchouse.com
4. LowestBids.com
5. USAuctions.com
6. Andysauctions.com
7. Webswap.com
8. Bid.com
9. Bidz.com
Per Top9.com, these rankings are based on the number of unique visitors a site gets per month.

1. eBay have to agree with this one.
2.BidBay Personally listed there for 2 1/2 months not much bidding. The viewing activity is up, they have everyone looking for a fictional character. I might add only seems to be visible to a few. Gave this site a chance a while back they have to get rid of the games.
3. Specialty site, look for more of these.
4.Nobids.com says it all.
5-9 Must be paying somebody to view pages.
10 epier has nearly doubled in size in the last month and gaining. Beginning to wonder if they can handle the traffic.

Bidbay just cannot seem to get bidders. Any idea as to why?

SEABHS in my opinion it is because no one is interested in spending real money on that site. They are mainly there for the freebies.
And that goes for the sellers as well.
George the CEO posted something this morning about BidBay being number 2 and lo and behold a new user pops in there and says it's because they have free listings and they should always remain that way.
People who think this way have very limited thinking skills. The simple fact as we both know you have to have money in order to keep a business going.
BidBay is not going to be able to survive on advertising money if Yahoo can't.
It all really doesn't matter because as soon as BidBay begins to charge (because they have to) they will all bail anyway to the next "viable alternative" to eBay.
What a joke.

Oh and this is a pre-emptive strike here for anyone who wishes to state that because of BidBay Billy they are getting more bids...BS...I've checked they are still getting mainly Funny Money Bids.

Wow I don't know about those sites they listed but I do know I have been following auctionaddict, pootah, auxpal(bidville now), and epier. Bidville has really gained in leaps and bounds since 1/9 when I started checking. I do like the idea of uploading images on site rather than cut and paste.

lowestbids?...LMAO
The owner can't even afford to pay his AW banner-ad advertising bill, so how well can they be doing?
Mark threw him off of AW several times for scamming and frauding users here, under more then a dozen user ID's.
He is back though, right HERE amongst us.
Not so blatently spamming for slowestbids, but taliking down the "reputable" auction sites now.
The numbers for that slowestbids site are all completely manufactured from daydreaming on the owners part.

Well I think it's like when someone accuses you of either slander or libel they have to prove it right?
Well I think George and staff would be afraid to accuse me of that...'cause it's all true...LOL
BTW I'm starting a movement against BidBay feel free to email me and I will explain more.
Don't worry I'm not going to turn you in for the reward....LOL

Auctiongallery2,
"It all really doesn't matter because as soon as BidBay begins to charge (because they have to) they will all bail anyway to the next "viable alternative" to eBay."
You are correct about people bailing to the next "viable alternative". Don't think for one moment that it wasn't in the cards for Yahoo to charge fees. They charge fees for listing your site in their search engine now. Yes, you have the choice, but try and get listed without "choosing" to pay.
Every business has to charge money. Those that don't aren't businesses. It seems that a lot of people here want somebody else to set up an auction and put up the money and suck up the losses. If it were easy to do then everybody would do it.
I applaud all those that are trying and I wish that ALL of them would start charging fees right now. That way the buyers and sellers would pick a winner or several winners simply by creating the sales.
This sort of thing happens all of the time in business. Leaders of different companies meet and decide that they are under pricing themselves and all agree to raise their prices. The auction sites should all do that. In the end YOU will win. I gaurantee it!
