It seems all too often folks join in the posting to 'bash' an auction site. Generally speaking they have an 'axe to grind' so take their frustrations out in that type of post.

Well, I've been using on-line auctions for a little over two years now and the one thing I've discovered is there's no such thing as the perfect auction site. Every one of them has their problems.

I also notice that some who like one particular site think it's the only site that has anything going for it while all of the other sites are nothing more than fodder.

Why is this?

Honestly if we don't try to use more than one venue we're only hurting ourselves and the site we choose as our only venue.

When you go shopping in town do you only go to one particular store? Or do you shop around to see where you can find the best deal?

I know when I buy groceries I go to both WalMart and WinCo. Each of the stores has great prices on many things but each one offers something unique to keep me shopping at both places. I do the same thing when shopping for anything.

If we choose to support only one auction site we're empowering that site to turn in to a monster. Do any of us really want that to happen with our favorite auction sites? Does anyone want to see any of the smaller sites we use suddenly turn into another eBay in their tactics and policies? I doubt seriously that we do.

As I said, no site is perfect. Maybe between us all we could help to create a handful of sites that come pretty darned close, though.

I'll see your triple amen and add a hearty Hallelujah to the ante.
There is a lot of two-faced backpedaling going on in the Wally Spam Incident threads. They thought she was gone or had abandonded BV so she was fair game. Those threads should the gang at it's best.

Yes, Barncards did e-mail me. Unfortunately I hadn't checked my e-mail on Wednesday and read it last night then answered this morning. I also didn't see the BidVille message board until it was brought to my attention here.

BTW, RB, I'm glad you're enjoying those movies. I loved 'Blue Thunder' when I watched it 20 years or so ago. Unfortunately I had seen it on TV so when I bought the movie was in for a bit of a shock. We watched it until the 'hover' scene and the kids said, 'Do we have to watch this?' and I said, 'Nope'. LOL

So, it then went in the list box.

Keep your eyes open because before long I should have some more to list.

JB: Like I said to you privately earlier, my feelings were hurt to put it mildly. However, they've been hurt before and I try very hard not to have hard feelings.

And I am going to make this public, just so there'll be no more misunderstandings.

I'll support any auction site that I think has a good chance of giving eBay a run for its money. If I can live with their policies and they aren't constantly trying to mess with their users and I can find a decent amount of buyers there they get my vote as being a potential.

Now folks, let's all see what we can do to be constructive instead of destructive, huh?

Wallyspog:

I agree, no site is perfect, and neither are their operators/owners/companies.

Seems that every site doesn't offer everything, and if it does people complain it has too many features.

Can't please everybody.
