.. of the thread where I tried to help BV close some of it's verification loopholes. They listened and closed some of them. But they lack funds to close some of them. The free email accounts almost all work ( unlike eBay ) and there are many hundreds out there to choose from ( enter 'free email account' in any decent search engine for a few listing sites ). BV mostly closed the leaving negative feedback loophole by charging everyone $5/year ( I got no kickback on that I swear ).
There are still some loopholes to close. I am doing this to help BV close the loopholes.
A mischief maker can still register at BV with a free email acct and bid on a limited number of items. If those items are featured items the sellers are going to be out a minimum of 50 cents a pop for the listing and a possible lost sale if a legit bidder was outbid. BV will not refund your feature auction or gallery money. ( greed? ) On the bright side, the sellers do get bids and that is something that is rare at BV. Also they won't get a negative feedback and will get that warm fuzzy feeling that the mischief buyer will eventually have to spend 5 whole minutes creating a new bogus account.

That is the hard truth too, so many free e-mail addresses out there. I think that they will need a better programmer or better software before they can beat that.

So far I have never been stiffed by a bidder on BV. ( knock on wood) But after using $5.50 in credits to list on the front page I would damn well be e-mailing BVCS for a refund in credits if the bidder backed out. Not that it would do any good. BVCS seems to have disappeared, except for locking that one much hated - but much posted upon thread today.

Oh yes and the chat room.LOL

Hi Kodi,
It really is poor BV programing or filtering that probably verifies whether the email is a free email address. It is almost impossible to get open an eBay account with a free email account so eBay must use a better method ( paid service ) to determine the status of each email account. BV must have just slapped a simple program together to appease the masses.
BV does need to get a refund policy for deadbeat bidders on auctions.

Hello all! Long time, no visit-just had to stop by and see if anyone still lived here. Cuff, Kodi, and dreamgirl, you must have tough hides!

Hmmm (thinkin) no, actually I am very sensitive. Part of my commitment to myself is to not take things too seriously anymore. I also like to follow my own path in choosing my relationships. I like almost everyone, and even the annoying people manage to give me some insight to myself. I heard so many bad things about bidsbids, exexec and holysmokes before I started posting here, I think I was ready to dislike everything they did and said. But bidsbids is alright, exexec is alright and holysmokes (I think) will turn out to be ok too. Certainly, I don't agree with everything they say 100% of the time..BUT how often can that be said about ANYONE we are acquainted with? I think that as long as things don't get personal, ie; spelling, living in a trailer - then most conversations are good ones. The stats thing is irrelevent to me, as I watch the BV numbers myself. BidVille is a viable site, but sure does need some help. The people there are great for the most part, and I have enjoyed making friends there.
Anywho..

May your listing fees be cheap
May your bidders be true
Happy New Year, enjoy 2002

(Eww that was terrible)

Thanks for reminding me Kodi. I'll post BV listing numbers today. The 16th of this month will be the day that every seller must either pay a verification fee or have a monthly paid membership on BV to sell. The post 1/16 numbers should be interesting.
