I decided to list a few things at ePier. In the past I haven't had much luck but I decided to try it again.

Has anyone had any luck with the site? I added my seller picture to my auctions but I need to change it because I look mean!

Seriously, I am looking for other outlets besides Ebay. I sell music collectibles. Is there a site that would fit my catagory?

Thanks for listening.

There is a message board system that is for online auction buyers and sellers at:

www.mootropolis.com

Give them a look-see over there. There's a nice cow moderator to keep things halfway civil too.

Hi Kodi, I've never posted at the Moo. Too much like the BV cafe now. Sketer wrecked the BV boards and now she's wrecking Moo.
Amazing amount of Don Rickles-like insults like Blubber Butt.
This ghost town suits me fine.

I like epier but must admit that it has become a ghost auction site since Christmas time. I think the fact the Yahoo became affordable did hurt epier as far as good buyers go. I guess I would still give it a go, but keep your items listed else where also. If you get a bid, just cancel the auction at the other site.
Good luck,
bp

We sell framed 24KT gold records and CDs. They are licensed collectibles. Some are limited editions. We have a website but it is not complete yet. The auctions have been a good way to get our name out there. I want to find another site besides Ebay to list.

Barparts brought up something I've been meaning to ask sellers here (Randy's comment: "I guess I would still give it a go, but keep your items listed else where also. If you get a bid, just cancel the auction at the other site.".

For those of you sellers who list identical items on different auction sites, do you really have duplicate items for sale or do you list them in multiple places and if one gets a bid, you cancel the auction at other sites? Have you ever run into situations where both items received bids and you only had one item to sell?

I am always looking for Christmas ornaments and have, over the years, found sellers who had the same items listed on different sites. I'd place bids on the mutiple sites(if it was something I really wanted duplicates of) and in all cases the seller really did have duplicates to sell. I was just curious to know if most sellers have duplicates or just one item that they list in several places.

Thanks in advance for the insights....

There are advantages and disadvantages to sites that charge no listing fees. Many sellers place their items over several sites and closely monitor for any possible sales so that auctions running the same unique item can be deleted off the other sites. Since sell thru rates are only one or two precent on the third tier sites the chance of selling the same item within a few hours on multiple sites is very rare and worth the very slight risk.
You can see an illustration of this by selecting a hard to find book. Look on www.abesbooks.com and www.bookfinder.com and Half.com or Yahoo Warehouse and you will see the same exact book description, down to the semi-colon at all these sites for the same exact book. On Half.com the same exact book can be listed more than once.
Half.com lets the buyers that try to buy a book that is not available leave feedback on the canceled transaction but Yahoo Warehouse does not. If a seller does get a neutral or poor feedback once in a blue moon for selling the same item than that is a minor risk when compared to exposing the items on a broad network as compared to one lone site.
Many sellers add remarks like "item is subject to a prior sale" and most auction sites like Bidville have no problem with that phrase even though it violates their Terms Of Service so the sellers are emboldened by the lack of caring by site management that really only want inflated numbers for their sites.

Every site out there has a warning not to list items that you don't have. Do not ever duplicate list unless you have 2.........

The risk is very minimal at third tier sites and Half.com. As many as 50% of all items on Half.com are listed elsewhere on the Net.
Bidville allows its major book seller with 299,000+ book auctions to have the "Subject to Prior Sale" notation on all of it's auctions. That is telling you that it is fine to use this practice on their site.
