Good grief I thought Fairmarket was dead by now. I really thought it could have potential, but it was never promoted, or advertised, so it seems like many sites, to merely exist for consuming band width. Sad!

Is Fairmarket Network part of MSN Auctions? With all of Bill Gates money and desire to dominate the internet & computers you'd have thought he could do a better job at online auctions.

To my knowledge "FairMarket" is part of MSN, and yes, I can't imagine why it wasn't done better or promoted. I used it when it first came on the scene, a did a little business, but haven't used them in well over a year, almost forgot they existed.

Someone asked which auctions were a part of this "FairMarket:.....I don't know now, the members seem to constantly change, but I believe Lycos is, possibly Excite, and the MSN Auctions among others.

I am sure if you are interested, and you do a search on any major search engine, you'll find a site with a list.

You know, people are right, if Fairmarket has Microsoft's money backing then why is the site so... plain?

Basically tacked onto the MSN.com site. I have seen some better looking third tier sites.

Gates & Micro$oft made a similar error early in the internet craze. Then software giant Sierra had a game playing site that was very popular and Microsoft made a competiting site. The MS site was not near as good as Sierra's site and sputtering along and closed up after a while.
All of that money and programming resources didn't help Gates on that occasion either?

Gee that kind of blows people theories that auction sites need to spend millions on auction software... or message boards.

Gates didn't give the people what they wanted. He tried to shove his concept of the way things should be down everyone's throat. Yet he was the one that copied Apple's icons and easy graphical desktop setup. He should have copied Sierra as much as possible and fight them in court ( he's good at that stall tactic ).
Yahoo should copy as much of eBay as possible and eat the 'copycat' criticism and fight any lawsuits. That is the best route to success if you ask me.

Wellll ...
Ya Can say what ya want about ole Billy Gates there ...
PaPa WarBuKKs That Is ...
All I know is I only wish I had a small percentage of his bukks !!!
Heck, a percent of a percent of his bukks would be great.
Heck, he's got biilions and thats just what we know about, what about the billions he probably has that's not even recorded .
Also... So True and its so Sad that these days it seems the only way to really get rich and get huge in business is to steal, copy, scam , scheme and connive your way to the top like most big businesses do these days.
The Todays Business Success Formula is : Scheme & Connive
What ever happened to good ole hard work and vested interest ?

Now y'all should not be knocking "Boy Genius". After all, how many geniuses do you know that can build a box, fill it with crap, tell you it is the greatest crap the world has known, and then make you spend hard earned dollars to have that crap stink up your living room or office. Now that is what I call the greatest "salesman on earth". Merlin is rolling in his grave, after failing at making gold. Billy figured it out ... 2pounds of stanky crap + a pretty box is worth it's weight in gold ...lol
