Will any other online auction discussion message centers follow Auction Crotch into the grave soon? We have two good candidates in both AW and Moo.

I agree with you on AW, however, Moo is very heathly right at the moment. Your resentment for the site shows through everytime.

dman3:

Yup, apparently Fanini had to wipe out AuctionCrotch, and create his own adult/porn site to fill the void. WHY, only he knows.

YourDesign, neither you nor I have any real idea what the financial health of Moo is or what the state-of-mind of Patty is over at the Moo. Either one of us could be right in our thoughts on the matter.

Then we could theorize that Wallypogsbog.com could be dying off also. What makes YOU think that Moo is going to die? There are other auction discussion sites that could easily vanish more quickly.

It is fairly easy to calculate the costs of running a site, and Moo's overhead is very low. Like someone else said here at AW (barncards1 I think) that Moo IS getting advertising money. They were smart for using low cost means to get started.

AW has a much higher overhead because it offer paid services that requiring customer service staff, programmers, and many other costs. AW charges money for services and thus makes a great deal of money, just isn't profitable yet. Apples and oranges. Actually, I don't think AW will disappear anytime soon. It might get bought by someone first.

AuctionCrotch on the other hand might have been doing fine until Fanini took over. Then he began changing things, screwing with things (the look primarily and then the scripting), and generally ripping the site apart on purpose. He is going to turn it into a Porn site (he calls it an "adult" site), but decided to destroy AuctionCrotch (probably for fun) on purpose and isn't even going to use the domain name for his new Auction/discussion porn business.

The topic of this thread is AuctionCrotch RIP, and the forums have actually been gone for days. I am glad it's gone. It was a cesspool of slander.

Rosie while I am not a big fan of multi level marketing, not all MLA`s are pyramid schemes. Auction Diner had a formula which did not work for me but it worked for others. Mootropolis is not the best place to run to for information. The site owner has skewed the way the threads go by eliminating members who supported Auction Diner leaving only a few noisy voices to say whatever they want. I only wish she would clean up the Bidville forums. Anyone reading over there about BV would think the earth had fallen in here As we can all see, that is not the case.
So ends my morning sermon. To the office I go.

Bidsbids:

Newsbursts mean nothing. From Enron to Xerox it makes little difference. I think AW will be around for awhile, but it is ripe for buying outright also. That is not the subject of this topic.

As for your quote from a (LOL) Bidville chatboard about Moo, that is just a snippet. There are others:

"Thanks for your morning sermon. I do not think the Moo is the be all, end all place for information, but every now and then, some good snippets of information spills out. "

"Regarding the BV topics at the Moo. There are those at the Moo who like to blast anything BV. And there are those at the Moo who don`t take kindly to BV being blasted. Therein lies the reasons for any "conflict" that may exist. "

Many also talked against AW, OTWA, and many other boards. You have your own opinion, makes little difference.

Now we should discuss the death of AuctionCrotch and it's new life as a porn site. AW has a history with AuctionCrotch.

As I understand it, AuctionCrotch was merely a parody auction discussion site named after Auction Watch when AW went to credit card verfication and no active moderation. It was never meant to be anything else but a few select friends having some fun.
It's death means zilch, the fun wore off.
