A friend is all excited about this auction site because she saw something about it on TV. I checked and the only real comment I could find was that the shipping costs were very high and that the customer service was almost non-existant. She looks for almost freebies and was enthusiastic about the NO Reserve $1.00 3 minute auctions. I have reservations about the whole thing myself but hate to be a "killjoy"

dead on. You better have a very good computer with lots of memory to run the 3 minutes auctions. For the Bidz-sponsored auctions it's $7 for the first item and $3 each item thereafter in that order in a 7 day time span with no combining of s/h. A Bidz.com user can win 20 rings at an average price of $2 and pay $40 for the rings and $64 s/h ( plus 8.25% CA tax if applicable ) and it can take 10 days to assemble your order and send it out.
Many ebay and other auction sellers are selling the jewelry items they win on Bidz.

I have recently starting selling on bidz.com and found that every item I've posted sold at really good prices. The only problem is that so far 50% of the buyer actually pay. To many dead beat bidders. The good thing is that bidz.com only charges for those that actually pay. They play buy the honest program, where the sellers tell the bidz.com who actually paid and who did not, before they charge you, pretty cool. I like it, and recommended to most, it's not for everyone though.
Check it out you will not be disappointed. And while you are there check out my auctions glass chess sets.

There are two sections of Bidz. The auctions actually posted and run by Bidz themselves and those posted and run by idividual sellers on Bidz.
I use to check out the wholesale lots category and the items do seem to sell at good prices on Bidz. That may be why there are many deadbeats though as many buyers may see better deals on ebay for the same items and buy at ebay and then reneg on the Bidz wins.

Bidz.com remindes me of Ubid.com They sell there own products and offer the regular auction user to sell your own products. The only difference is that you must be a real business to sell on bidz.com. Another big difference is that there are more people that pay on bidz.com than there are on ubid.com. Becuase ubid holds the users credit card on file the user thinks that anything they buy on ubid is going to be charged to there credit card by ubid which it does not unless they buy and item that is being offered by ubid. I've had some good success on Bidz.com and more people seem to be paying, since we first opened our account we have had about an 80% pay on all ended auctions. It was lower several days ago but that was before the checks starting rolling in the mail.
The real problem that I see with Bidz.com is that they really dont have the infustructure in place to take a big wave of buyers or sellers on there servers, if they ever come.

Thanks ruben for pointing out that non-Bidz items are to be sold by businesses only. I didn't know that but I never really checked either.
I did check just now and saw this under the "SELL" link on their homepage
You must be a licensed and established business. Please note: currently Bidz.com does not support private sellers
There is a form to fill out to sell on Bidz just under that and Bidz doesn't seem to want any 'proof' that the seller is a "licensed and established business." other than two references that can be friends or relatives. With almost non-existant customer relations I bet it would be easy for a private seller to sneak into Bidz to sell.

tooltime, they don't really check that much. When we opened our account we had one guy maybe the only worker at bidz.com all us and explain to us the rules and how it works. They walked us through opening up and auction, Basically they are just checking to make sure that you have a dedicated business phone. They are really helpful though, I had some really good success lately. I was not sure in the beginning but lately it has not been bad, poeople are actually paying for the auctions which is a rare thing now a days outside ebay.
