It's just not on BV but everywhere ad this BVer nailed it. Low cost items can travel via First Class Mail in a very low cost bubble mailer at the same speed as Priority Mail but at a fraction of the cost. Wht are some many sellers so incredibly ignorant and lazy when it comes to providing reasonable shipping?
---------------------------
Here's the rant ....
I am sorry, but I refuse... to pay 4.00 - 5.00 priority shipping for a VERY small, .01 item which can be bought brand new at the store for less than what the shipping will cost for a used item. The auction that I was looking at can be shipped for less than 1.50.. I know because I have also shipped items like that....
Please, if you want bids, offer another shipping option!! And yes, I know that you get all of the Priority mail supplies for free, and so do I when a customer chooses priority.. I never say "Priority Only" .. I wouldn`t mind giving you the extra money to pay for a .60 envelope bubble mailer... see? no more money out of your pocket! Wow.. imagine that....

Tooltimes the reason many sellers do this is competition. There is so much saturation on ebay that sellers will do anything for bids.
On Bidville its the same method, but instead of competition, its the low bid rate so sellers try to pull buyers in.

What is gained by charging a buyer $4 or $5 intead of $2? It will arrive on the same day.
It kills a site when a lot of sellers do this and there is mostly low value items on the site. The Priority Mail has be changed all around except for packages under one pound but the First Class Mail is still a deal as it is not affected by distance.
If the idea of free Priority Mail supplies was to get people hooked on them then they have succeeded.
The sad part is when a seller refuses to state s/h terms in the auction description and then springs a $4.35 s/h on a buyer of a $2.00 item. That buyer will not get ripped off a second time.
There was some controversy about bidders complaining about "free" items added as a bonus. At first glance, it sounds like the bidder is ungrateful but it is very common for a seller to send a bunch of HEAVY freebies that they do not want and then charge them a lot of extra Priority Mail s/h. If a seller wants to give a bidder some heavy freebies they should pay any extra postage costs. Many times the items are not worth near as much as the extra Priority Mail costs. In these cases it is very rude of the seller to add the extra freebies without telling the bidder there will be a lot of extra s/h costs.
