It is becoming pretty obvious by these stats that even the sports cards sellers are finding the bidville is a dead fish in the water. I just hope they stay there. Don't want them to kill another site with their crappy cards.

Bidville is now allowing ALL members free access to their message boards. I think the reason is pretty clear.

BW, when did BV add the function to allow all registered BV members to post on the BV message boards? ( it's true ) In typical BV management style there was no announcement whatsoever.
Possible reasons? A majoprity of the BV membership will be up for verification in less than a month and those that choose not to pay the re-verification fee will be able to communication on the BV boards or prospective members will be able to ask questions about BV to other BVers before putting up their $5 for six month fees.
As a note: My assumption that the majority of the BV membership is up for re-verification in mid January is based on the fact that all BVers were granted the mid January ( 16th? ) date as the inital date verification must be paid last year. The only way to have a different re-verification date is to have subscribed to a BV membership and then unsubscribed or to have joined BV in the last 11 or 12 months. The six daily featured sellers show that about 90+% of those sellers have been at BV over 12 months.

To add a little clarification to some misinformation posted on another board.
The old BV method of message posting was that a BV member had to be registered and verified. A buyer could be verified if they wanted to go on a shopping spree without waiting for the proper feedback level to occur. Therefore some buyers may have paid the verification fee and not just sellers.
A BVer need not have paid $10 to post in the old days. There are only 2 verifiation payment choices ( other than automatic verification via a BV paid monthly membership ) and there is no $10/year choice. There is a $5/ for 6 months option and a $2.50 for one month option.

Tooltimes my opinion is with the membership fee coming due, and with more and more sellers leaving they are trying to lure in new bidders and sellers.
One look at the stats shows how bad things are. First lets look at the numbers from the past several weeks.
11-13 1,190,065
12-18 894,974
-295,091
That is a huge drop in numbers. The only growth occuring at the site are nickel and dime sports cards. Here is better set of stats which show a big problem:
Under $1.00 sport cards- 400,864
Total items on bidville- 894,974
44.7%
Almost 45% of the sites total listings are nickel and dime cards! You cannot build a site on a foundation of junk. I say raise the yearly fee to $19.95 and get rid of it.
The sellers who are leaving due to lackluster sales will likely take their goods to other free/cheap 3rd tier sites. With no off site advertising things are looking bidless at bidville.
