Can anybody recommend a good site (other than half.com?) for used college textbooks?
I have some that are fairly new editions (purchased new between (2000-2003), but I wonder if they sell that well? Seems they are always putting out new editions that the college's require you to have for the course.
Just wondering if I should even bother to list them anywhere?

Tessa, many sellers report good success with selling text books at Amazon.com. The selling fee is a bit high at 99 cents plus 15% if you do not have a special merchant montly account but textbooks supposedly sell there much better than Half. I think the listing is free and the listing runs six weeks. ( it was that way a few years ago anyway )
I read a recent web article about many colleges that have sites for text book want ads where the buy pays all the selling fees ( nice twist ). If the practice becomes mainstream then it will be that much more difficult to sell on Half, ebay or Amazon.
I got an email today from Half saying that 4 of the 15 book titles I have listed there are being " dropped " from the " Half/ebay Catalog " and my 4 books will be dropped from my inventory soon. I have a feeling the new Media listing fill-in thing on ebay is the culprit.

Ace, thanks much for your direction. I appreciate it.
I hadn't thought of Amazon (duh - dont know why.)
The hubby paid some high $$$'s for these books because of course, he waits till the last minute and then wind up buying them new to get them in time! So I figured maybe somebody out there, somewhere, is taking some of the same courses and I can recoup some of the costs. I will give them Amazon a try. They are just sitting here anyway!
Ace, yeah, I saw your other post about the Crimson. Interesting. It makes sense for them to start doing that. The funny thing was I had a harvard Baseball cap listed on ebay during the summer. Lots of hits, but no bids at all. (I guess if you go to Harvard you can afford a $10.00 hat and dont have to sleuth ebay for one at 4.00!! lol....)

College memorabillia does well on ebay sometimes. About a year ago I bought a book about the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority history for a buck. It was only about 15 years old. When I researched it I only found one copy on all of the internet and all the book sites. It went for $156 in a bidding war and the lady was as happy as a lark to get the book.

Wow Ace, that was great find!! I need one like that! Am not too good at finding 'antiques' or rarieties because if something looks beat up,old and cruddy I pass it by -- but I've seen things going on EBAY that didnt' seem in such great shape for $$$'s only because of their age or HTF status.
STONE: btw, lay-off my buddy here or I am going to contract cigarette smoking woman out on you.

Tessa, I have both StoneCold and Kiara on my permanent ignore list as I consider them both to be very bad people that try to cause trouble to anyone that disagrees with them. They are both jealous of my obvious charm and flair for life.
I will pray for their disturbed minds to be healed by an alien with big eyes.

LOL !
Isn't that your character? Isn't that your past history? I have had many disagree with me but I've never caused trouble for them and I've never had to hide behind other IDs to do it like you have.
You can be very helpful on the boards but I think you're a bit resentful of me because I caught on to all your IDs so easily.
BTW, all the comments on the ioffer thread are still there for anyone to see. As usual, you couldn't answer simple questions so wimped out by saying you were putting me on ignore. And I know for a fact that you haven't done that. Now, play nice.

Quite simply put, the auctiondunce, bidsbids, calseller and what ever else he wishes to call himself is completely full of garb. He is as clueless as anyone I have ever met when it comes to value and sales as anyone could be. Personally I am glad to be on his ignore list as it shows his true colors and complete incompetence.
