Bidville is very user friendly. It seems to be catching on with sellers and bidders alike. Each day there is a rise in auctions.
What is best about Bidville is their customer service. It is unbelievable! You ask for something, they respond quickly and the response is usually affirmative. If you have any questions, they will be answered by a service person. No canned answers. I think it has the possibility of being second to eBay in a few months. It is a great auction site.

Just one month ago, sellers were asking if and when one of the free sites would emerge as the #1 site to replace Yahoo. Bidville has already done this.

Looks to much like Ebay, another wannabe site?
I'll stick with the original.

The problem is they do not have enough traffic. If they do not advertise enough to bring buyers, then what good is getting more sellers as this will dilute your sales from the additional auctions that they are adding.

Bidville makes it easy to notify your customers of where you are so they can join (no CC required). Sellers need to do this.
The site navigates well and the changes they are making to the site are all good. I do have a concern, and have yet to pose it to CS. A block to some bidders would be nice. Any site that has no CC# required will get some deadbeats (maybe a lot). That was the great thing about Yahoo to me.
Bidville did memtion in the last email update that they were planning a neighborhood watch committee. There are certainly pros and cons to that. Certainly, auctions with dirty underwear for sell need to be axed.
hee hee... the great thing about Yahoo, was not the DBs, but the ability to block them from future bids.

Ebay was one of the last sites to offer "buy price" auctions. Do they have auto-resubmit yet or do you still have to manually relist unsold items. Yahoo was hosting images from day one. I heard eBay just started a few months. Not very original, Yahoo has had auto-relist, buy prices, and image hosting for years. Bidville is nothing like eBay. If it was I wouldn't be listing with them.

Been listing for about 2 weeks now, having good results, better that I was on Yahoo before I left. I have listed over 300 auctions, and have made 30 sales in the last week. It keeps picking up I have one item listed now that has 8 bids and started at $5.00 and now is it $12.00. Traffic seems to be picking up as the number of auction increase. I like Bidville, very user friendly and great customer support. They are adding more features everyday. This is the next big auction site I believe.

I like Bidville as its very easy to use and has great customer service. I have about 40 auctions there now. I have sold about 19 and also sold a few things off our web site from new customers. I have told my old customers about this site and send it out in every EOA notice.
I do not expect this site to be the next E-bay. After all it took 6 years for them to get there. I was a memeber of Auction Web and I sold Pez and some other toys for myself and a friend who did not have access at the time to a computer. I discovered Auction Web on Thanksgiving weekend in 1995.
I can tell you that we were limited to 10 items a week but no more then 3 items a day. And stuff did not sell the first or second time around. It was a small site.
So give BidVille a chance and see where and how it grows in the next few months.
My major concern is that I wish they would charge a FVF so they have an income for system improvements, advertising etc etc.
I also have a few items on E-pier but not as happy as it is not a site for me yet. But they all take time. I am a strong beliver that you do not put all your eggs in one basket.
Greed-bay is not even finished with the rate hike. In the next few months I expect to see a FVF increase and these sites will look even better.

Bidville has been very user friendly from my first time there.Hit's are increasing by the day and so are sales.Have had more sale's and by paying customers than I would have had at Yahoo in the same time frame. The thing I thought was great was,The first time I listed there I contacted customer service and asked them if they would concider putting in more cat's for a certain item I like to list.A week later they emailed me personally and told me the cat's were now in place. What more could you ask for??

My first "test" batch [only 5 auctions] ends today, no bids so far. I am going to have to decide what to do because I don't have enough time to list dozens of auctions there unless there are sales. I do well to manage a few a day on ebay. Also, I can't afford to take any great amount of inventory away from sites like half.com or Amazon. Maybe for a week or two, or double-listing.
I really want this site to work...a little worried to read on there today that they had server problems Sunday.

In the ongoing life after Yahoo! Auctions.....BidVille is # 1 with me! I have tried Lycos, BidBay, & Epier as well, and I like BidVille the best. Everything is wonderful there, especially customer service, they just need more traffic. I wish Auction Watch's search engines and others could help!
One other thing. I do not think it looks at all like Ebay. Am I missing something? NOTHING ALIKE. If you want similar look at BidBay and Epier.

BidVille has my vote. I signed up at each and every new site, tried listing, sent emails to customer service, etc to give each of them a go. BidVille was not my #1 choice at that time and I was very reluctant to list there. However, upon listing a few on 2 or 3 sites (some sites I couldn't even figure out the listing process or stay signed in) I found BidVille easiest to use, best customer service and had my first bid within 48 hours of listing. All around the best site and only one I have found willing to listen to the users to make improvements, etc.
example of customer service: I was looking through the beanies. They had catagories Beanies (current); Beanies (retired); Buddies and further down the list Retired Buddies. I sent them an email asking them why. Their response was "We have no idea" but go check out the catagories now. Within an hour it read Beanies (current); Beanies (retired); Buddies (current); Buddies (retired). Even the little things matter to these people.

I'm disapointed in bidville. I listed a few videos while they were still auxpal.
Very few hits, no bids. Now I listed hot items at a high price so I listed a few more. I even started Disney's Aladdin for 1 cent. Again, no bids.
Yuck. They have a long way to go.

Bidville has been the best of the lot of new ones I have tried, ie; epier, pootah, bidbay, lycos, snaprat. With Snaprat a close second for ease of use (for me) and the look of the ads to interest customers. They are all in need of traffic and that will take a little time to build.
Bidville's courtesy and prompt responses to my inquiries is what won me over to list the majority of my items with them. Once their buyer traffic increases I will call them 'home.'

pro - nice looks, higher traffic than others, easy editing, easy image upload, and resubmit choices
con - traffic still low, no bulk loading, and needs more categories

Easy to use, price is right and traffic depends on what you are selling. If you can find it for the same price or less elsewhere, you probably will not have much luck here. You do have the advantage that your items won't disappear in the masses seen at ebay so it is worth a try.
I am listing a few items from time to time as I have lots of inventory that I am in no hurry to sell. I try to enhance page hits by letting all my ebay customers know they can find more of my stuff at bidville.
Had first sale with first listing within 1st 7days and payment by Pay Pal within an hour of auction ending. I like this a lot!

I am going to keep giving these free sites a second, third, fourth look and see which one emerges in the wake of Yahoo's demise. I haven't heard about Bidville doing any promoting of it's site so I'm not going to list there no matter what success stories I hear. Bidbay on the other hand has announced that they are promoting the site soon and have a budget set. I do wonder about their CEO's credibilty, but if they do promote the site a lot as he says they will, they will win my business. I've already signed up on Bidbay and listed a couple items because I see it beating out bidville and all the rest.

canvid13 they do have an announcement about fixing a few thigns and upgrades......don't be so harsh on them.
All I did was send an inquiry to bidville about how some sellers managed to transfer their istings from yahoo to bidville....I did mention my username.
This was also in the middle of the night.....a couple hours later (about 5 am EST) I found ALL OF MY YAHOO LISTINGS duplicated and listed on bidville.
They saved my weeks of hand typing.......
I'll be there for a long, long time.
The seller control panel is extensive and rich with great innovative features. I can see all of my listings or just the ones with bids.
Just because a seller shows up with 3 items and doesn't get bids to me is irrelevant. Not an excuse to simply write them off.
I have quite a few items (about 75 right now) and I get multi item bidders.
Of all the smaller sites Bidville and Popula impress me the most.

I have tried several sites now and I will stay with Bidville until/unless another site proves to be better for me. I like the ease of navigation, the wonderful options for the seller, and great customer service. I sell antiques, collectibles, and miscellaneous other items. I have been listing there about 3 weeks, have sold 17 items and have 3 bids at this time. My sales have been to 6 different buyers. One, a customer that followed me there, the others are new customers. Several of my old customers have emailed that they love the site and will start shopping there. I like to be where the buyers are. I believe more buyers will come as the site grows and matures.

Its only sellers that hear about new sites......they need to invite their buy-only customers to follow them.
I myself have been too lazy to do that yet so all my customers there are new to me and are either sellers or customers of sellers who invited their customers to the site and liked my suff too.
If I were to email or send a postcard to all of my recent customers from other sites it would not only benefit me but you other sellers as well.
Word of mouth is what it needs.

"If I were to email or send a postcard to all of my recent customers from other sites..."
You would take the chance of being reported to your ISP for spam!
I've been including a tag line (in full http:// format so it shows up as a link) in my emails to winning bidders which makes note of the other auction sites I utilize.
(can someone explain why the UBB code for "quote" doesn't work here?)

Emailing someone you have done business with personally within the last few weeks is in no way spam.......
Do you know what SPAM is exactly?
A simple email to a customer saying thank for your recent purchase I have now moved all my listings to www.newauction.com if you need anything else is not spam.

Spam is unsolicited commercial email. You don't think emailing people regarding your BUSINESS is commercial? And, unless you specifically asked them if they wished to be included on your email list, it is unsolicited.
