Ok, Now that they've got all the sellers... will they do something to get the BUYERS??

We have infinite posts on how the listings are increasing... but who is selling ?

Are they being like YaWho?... waiting for sellers to bring the buyers with them? Isn't it their responsibility to attract some buyers?... have some banner ads, some sales promotions something that works and people know about it.

I think we as sellers should FORCE bidville to be a bit proactive than just sit on there A$$ and wait for either the sellers to do their work OR are they waiting for somebody to buy them out... maybe yahoo..?

ajaju,

I did some clicking through closed auctions at Bidville yesterday, and found that there's respectable bidding taking place in alot of categories. In fact, quite a few are at levels comparable to or greater than what is taking place at Yahoo!Auctions.

Some categories have little activity, however, and it just might be that your listings fall into one of them. That seems to be where my own listings are.

< grin >

what else? a typo.

I've bid and won two auctions at Bidville. I've sold a little more than ten items there. One at a huge discount to retail, most at break even a few at a nice return. My feedback is all the way up to five.
Way to many listings are just way too high a price. I'll continue to list at break even to try and stimulate sales. No more loss leaders in my future though.
The site has been way too lagged out to browse there lately and why bother most prices are like a spider & a web. Hopefully bidders will be more patient than I am.

Email BidVille. I have and this is the responses I have gotten. This site is just barely 90 days old now. They have submitted the site to searches and are waiting to be included or work their way up the lists. It takes a while.

About a week or so ago they started having banners from other sites which means they are involved with a banner exchange.

When they started this site they figured on competing with eBay and YaWho and so they would have to attract the sellers first. So their ads have been more focused on that then sellers.

When YaWho created their disaster BidVille got hit harder and faster than they expected. A lot of sellers have made requests for different catagories, different ways to do things, etc. I know I have made my share and over the past month I have seen them put these into action. They have been working on the site making it seller (user) friendly and trying to make sure that the experiences there are positive ones. I would rather see them work the bugs out now than be like other sites with lots of down time or problems and turn the users off to the site.

I have done my part to let my regulars know where I have gone and have included a banner on my personal web page. I have had two referrals on BidVille from that banner.

I have about 200 items listed currently and while sales are not GREAT I am doing as well on BidVille now as I was doing on YaWho the last 6 months.

Excuse me! I am not trying to pick a fight here, but I think that as sellers we should at this point be very happy to have a FREE, QUALITY forum on which to post our auctions.
I look to that as their first responsibility.
I am running about 80 auctions, 5 have closed successfully already, (1 deabeat), and 22 currently have bids pending.
Yes, I tried to bring all of my customers and some people I don't know over. I have 31 referrals, so far.
I do believe if BIDVILLE is willing to make a nice site, and let us use it for free, WE have a responsibility to get some customers there. Who is going to be depositing the checks and money orders? Who will be accepting the PAYPAL deposits? The sellers will.
I am sure that BIDVILLE wants to bring buyers also. However these are our businesses and we are the ones that want to have those checks coming in the mail without having to pay to list.
BIDVILLE is already responding to our suggestions, working on a gallery, importing auctions from other sites and working on a bulk loader.
What more could we ask from them for free? How about if they provide the products for us to list?
(Sorry, I really did not want to get sarcastic, I guess I just don't know a better way to make my point.)
It seems that they do almost everything else anyway.

Hey, look! no typos!......oh damn!
