I like bidville sales are slow but the hits have picked up! They try to respond and help the seller (Unlike some other sites.) They also are always trying to improve the site They still have a way to go but are getting there. I feel they will grow and I want to be part of it.

jimhhow,
Please, not THERE.
Their "clubs" are the most clunky, cumbersome things I've ever seen, a real mess.
Perhaps if they implement a "participation fee" for each post the quality will improve.

Bidville has potential and if willing to go the distance and ADVERTISE they may make a decent site.

My trial listing for Bidville sold the first day I listed it. So I put up a bunch of listings. Wow this is great, I thought. Since then, the most hits I got on an item was 7, and not one thing sold. And I even re-listed them like 3 times. I'll have to wait for the buyers to come along. Otherwise I have to pay ebay if I want to make any money.

The more I think of it, the better I like the idea of a Bidville club. anyone want to help found one? maybe help set up a few parameters and ground rules? email me.
I would have posted this in a seperate thread, but, with a due respect, I did not want to make it seem like a proliferation of Bidville threads to the moderator.

Does Bidville have a chat room or an announcement board for that matter?

I'm pleased and surprised so far with the results, and customer service.
It's important to realize two things:
1) It's not a substitute for Ebay, but a nice supplement. Items that I have many of to sell, why not place them on Bidville to see if they sell
2) It's unrealistic to think they can always be free. I hope that when they do start charging, they go with a very low listing fee, or a higher FVF. I prefer the latter.

Just a FVF on yahoo would have kept me there, and I think (my opinion only), a FVF only for Bidville would keep me there. We have been on Bidville for 3 weeks with 150 auctions and have sold 7 items. I think that is terrific since I assume Bidville has not been up for very long? For now, we plan to use Bidville with a combo of two other auctions. (which do charge)
Thanks, Dave.

I think Bidville is turning out to be a excellent site, just give it time! When I have a question for them they reply, when I asked for specific cat's they put them in place.I've been there now for 5 week's and made 6 sale's. And every buyer payed with a CC in less than one hour of me contacting them!! I'm getting hit's as low as 0 a week to as high as 20 a week! They may just be window shopper's but it shows they're coming.Give them time and they will become a site you'll be glad you stayed with!!

Smoooth and easy to list on,
and I have had some sales on there of items I listed forever on yahoo, surprised me.
Not much in lookers, but I'm going on the newsgroups and aol auction link boards and leaving links on my stuff continually.
I made up a web page using geocities, and so on that page I have everything linked in a circle.
It's easy to use.
Feel like I'm going door to door leaving fliers...But guess that's what you got to do.

Justjoan Keep up the good work! I am spreading the news about bidville also. If the sellers do what they can and they are backed up with bidville doing its best to upgrade ect the buyers will stay or at least check it out. It is a nice site but has a way to go (But they are trying.)

I think a lot of people have forgotten how HARD it was in the begining on Yahoo to get sales, or lookers. So I look at Bidville the same way it's going to take time...
And I'm sorry I disagree with the FVF, it's a great idea as far as being fair to pay, but it just leaves the doooooor way open for the spammers to list 100's of the same thing on every catagory there is and flood the sites with junk...
I have discovered in the last couple of weeks that LESS is MORE.
I've had more sales on Yahoo in the last 2 weeks with just a few things listed, than I did when I had 100's of items listed.
Find it an interesting observation, why I don't know.
I think when Bidville gets the photos option going to view items, sales will change then too.
just this ol bitties opinion

Thanks for your opinion justjoan I agree with alot of what you said. When I was listing with that other site it stoped being fun and started being a pain now I am with bidville and it is fun again. I do this to make money but I also like the challenge. But I must admit I like to have fun when I am doing something. I believe in FVF it has its good side and its bad, But to pay a site to list and then relist and relist when they dont have bidders Dont work for me. Thanks again Joan and happy selling.

I have checked out bidville and even though it seems to have lots of people listing the bids there seem too few and far between. I know it is a new site and it may very well take off.
I however looked around more and found a site I do perfer more than bidville, ePier! I have been there since yahoo started charging fees. I read above how others were happy about selling 6 items in a month. I have sold a 100 at epier.
ePier is a lot easier to navigate than bidville and this is just my opinion but it is too clutered in categories such as childrens clothing. I can't stand the small print and to go through all those listings just to find a girls sz 10 is hard on the eyes. ePier is split up into categories better making auction hunting fun and easy. If you get a chance check it out you might find you like it better too. Just my opinion and thought someone reading this might want to know. Thanks

I have decided to give Bidville a try since I see they have put a little distance between themselves and PayPal. And I certainly wish a pox on the latter.
As far as ePier? They spammed me. I killfiled them. End of story.

Bidville has been a big disapointment.
I sell videos. I listed 6 of the hottest titles on other sites albeit at high prices.
So about 10 days ago I listed Disney's ALADDIN with a .13 start. That's right, thirteen cents!
After the auction ended there were 4 bids and it sold for .75
4 bids, the hit counter said 1.
So basically Bidville is crapville for me.
No hits, no bids, just lots of listings. I don't think Bidville realizes what it takes to get to the top. To spend $20k bringing in sellers by referral isn't going to make the site good.
Spending 20K on bringing in bidders is.
What a waste of time and now I've sold a $15.00 video for .75!

canvid: same feeling here right now. Granted, my experimental listings amounted to somewhat less than 10, and they are books, so I have no real reason to cry in my beer. But I moved a few of them over to ebay and they sold, one on BIN.
I may keep trying to list for maybe a week at a time, but these days it feels simpler to keep stuff on half.com and Amazon then list on ebay to sell.

And their so-called "great" customer service seems to have bogged down too. I cannot get any responses from them to various questions I have been asking. I have been trying for over a week!
Two days ago, I "won" 2 auctions - haven't heard a word from either seller. One more day to go and I guess I'm off the hook eh
This, and the constant interruptions to their site (I know - I have read the red words at the top of their page but c'mon ... even eBay can upgrade their servers in less than 3 days!), is rapidly turning me off.
Boys and girls - I AM trying to support BidVille but it's getting too hard to do. If I have to jump through this many hoops, I may as well go back to Yahoooooo and Amazon.

I am having much better sales on BidVille than I ever had on Yahoo, maybe I'm just lucky, but I have listed 350 items on BidVille over the last 3 weeks and have sold 32 and everyone so far has paid, which I was lucky to get 6 out of 10 to do on Yahoo!. I am sticking with BidVille, I hope I have the last laugh.

Hate the pop-up ads.
Not many hits with my categories; collectible bottles soda/beer and celebrity magazines.
Only sold items after the death of the great Dale Earnhardt. Which I had forgotten was listed.

Out of 350,000 odd items, I finally found two that I wanted, and won them both. This is the first sales for the seller and the first buys for me. I hope everything goes well, and I hope to see more tv memorablia (D'Oh - almost gave it away!) on BidVille.

Growing pains here. I listed an expensive Barbie doll, got 70 views, but only one bid. The bid came from one of my own referrals. So I brought the buyer to bidville.
As I've never been a big seller I don't have that many bidders to bring to bidville.LOL
I recently aquired a load of NOS jewelry etc, so I'm going to start listing in earnest at bidville (based on alot I've read on these boards). To start listing at Egreed, there are just TOO MANY LISTINGS, I'd be lost in the crowd, plus the cost for a new seller just starting out (way too much for me).
I just wish there were a bulklister for bidville with the type of services AW offers. It's real tedious and time consuming doing the cut+paste thing. I'm not making much progress!!!!

The way I see it, the bidders aren't there because the prices are generally too high. I looked around the past couple days there...either high starting bids, reserves, or just junk. All 3 of these problems are OUR fault, the seller.
The Fairmarket deal at Ebay is going to hurt the majority of us. We, as a group, are going to have to get our collective mind together and choose a site to promote, both with our wares and our dollars. Hometown promotion, too, in addition to our email buddies. We could all help one site succeed just by adding the web address/signature line to our email.
I know there is alot of talk about a co-op deal lately. But, I don't think we have that kind of time left, for developement, etc.
