I figured with all the negatives about auction sites, we might like to hear some positives for a change.
Name your favorite auction site and tell us one reason why you like it.
Mine is eBay. I've been there so long it'd be a disservice to them if I said anyone else.
I like the variety and ease of navigation.

I too have to say Ebay, even with their fees for everything, BS etc.
I sell on 3 different sites besides them, but they are the only one with the bids.
I'd love someone to give them a run for their money, but sadly, I don't think it will happen.

eBay is my favorite ONLY because of the bidding activity there.
I also like Popula, their sense of humor is wonderful and I do well there in a specific category.
I really like the looks of 321gone, they've got pretty much all the features I would want EXCEPT bidders. They're overloaded with (IMO) junk like the wholesale trinkets that seem to flood every online auction. There doesn't seem to be any bidding in the categories I sell in, and the listings in the categories I buy in are either overpriced or, as stated before, wholesale junk.

I have bought on several but Ebay always has the best prices to buy, but to sell, I sometimes think why does the seller bother. If I can find it as cheap on a free site, I will bid there to support the sellers.

Great, let's keep this on a positive note
Ballsandstrike, please say something positive about your favorite site. This isn't a bash ebay thread nor is it a bash any other site thread. Please say something nice about a site you do like, rather than a site you don't like. It would keep to the topic, imo.
Thanks

I like Popula best...I like the graphics and the style, very refreshing. I have yet to place auctions there, am waiting for my merchandise to arrive from Austrailia that I did bid on. I wish people were more interested in it.

I looked at Popula and liked their fee schedule. I think it's fair and the incentive for listing is nice too. I'm watching it to see how it grows. I did notice a few higher bids there than at other sites.

eBay - Most Bids, about 3000 transactions.
Yahoo - Second most bids, I went back after fee and have sold 4 of 5 this week.
321Gone - Third most bids, Have sold maybe 10 items there this month.
I am in the computer parts area. Your results may vary by product.

mtnmama,
You are right and I should have worded it differently. Fact is since leaving Yahoo I sell on Bidville, Epier and now Bidbay and like them all equally.

Plan on selling again soon....
I like Ebay....I do not mind paying a price when it produces, so I don't have a problem with that. You also can't buy the great advertising they get free i.e., mentioned in a TV show by a star, or on a sitcom in the script, the legitimate 501(c)3 Charities they support like Rosie...mentioned almost everyday on her show. So those are the positives. And my items all sell for a good price there. I am getting ready in the next couple months to put up a 350-400 piece Beanie Baby colllection...all are originals, so I know they will go at ebay for a fair price.
I will also list certain items at Dutchbid, and Popular. Both seem user friendly, and I especially love the off the wall humor of Popular.
So my 3 are
Ebay
Dutchbid
Popular

I like BIDVILLE it is a young site growing & improving fast. Has very nice people in the chat room Great customer service. My hits have picked up alot but the bid's are slow like ever where else. I see a great future for bidville I have bought some items at bargain prices and the other sellers are easy to work with. Have a nice buying/selling day.

lanefamily I am pleased to hear that about Yahoo. I wondered how many people went running over to look for free sights and then decided they would rather pay at yahoo and ebay and have the bidders. Good work and congratulations

I put my ash and trash up on eBay. People will pay high prices while us sellers smile all the way to the bank. I have noticed the amount of Deadbeat bidders is really picking up.
I put my Militaria items on Militaria Collectibles Auction Haus. http://www.militaria-collectibles.com They do not charge listing fees, and host three images per item at no cost to me. They have more of a true collector base. I can also use their Retail Sales Catalog for items that I may have multiples of. Works better than eBay's "But it Now", as I can easily create my own on line retail Sales Catalog.

Actually I left Yahoo long time ago before fees. I'm sure you did not mean me, but I did not go running for a free site.
I got to Yahoo when the old OnSale PtoP auctions got kicked out when everything was pretty young, say 4-5 years ago now.
I sell computer parts. There was a person that had 6000 auctions going in every catagory for the same over priced junk. You could never see my items. He had same 20 items closing every few minutes. I just hung it up and went to eBay. That was in 1998. I went back once since and had the same problem. Probably the same person.
So when they started charging and I started watching the Yahoo forum and they give auction counts there every day. When they were down like 80-90% I went back and love it. Will not get the sell through rate I get on eBay but hay.
Sorry, you may go back on topic now.

I like to use bargainandhaggle.com. It isn't exactly like eBay, since it is one on one negotiation. I am currently trying to sell musical instruments on that site.

Hmmm, my favorite auction site. I haven't listed anything for a few weeks (and the listing bug is really starting to bite badly, LOL) but I honestly have to say for buying I'm loving ePier! I don't always necessarily find "niche" items there but some of the stuff I have found has been absolutely superb and for great prices! Shoot, I bought a couple of dishes--absolutely gorgeous, white FireKing with fired gold edges, for a song! I've found a few quite nifty things over at 321gone and Pootah, too, but not as many as I find on ePier.

BIDVILLE IS THE BEST AUCTION SITE ON THE WEB.
It is the best because I sell there.
I sell there because it is easy and I am getting a lot of action for my glass, china and pottery colectibles.
And thats the truth!

LOL@lanefamily!
Acutally Jim, I really don't care if you and the other party don't want to stay on topic. But the moderators may care. I don't really want to shut this thread due to negativity and I haven't seen any of that yet, so I think everyone is on topic.
I started this because I really wanted to see what others like without all the bashing. I'm looking for some alternate sites and this is the best way to go about finding out what's good about a site.
I wish you well in all your endeavors.

I really do not have a favorite, but I like the following auction sites for different reasons.
Haggle.com - Good for computer related items. Good sellers and bidders.
Lycos Auctions - good for computer related
items and electronics.
Auctionweiser.com - Good for collectibles, computer related items, and hard to find items. As well as their free services.
TBay - Good for music, movies, etc. Free Site to sellers.
eDeal - collectibes and entertainment mostly. Has a good marketplace as well.

Hi AB
I list at tbayauctions.com as well. I found the owner to be very accommodating to suggestions, questions and comments. He's working on a new website that will replace the old. Watch for the launch date.

While free is nice, we usually get what we pay for. I don't mind paying if a site has bidders. That is why its EBAY all the way for me!I have tried the other sites and just don't get the bids. I have also found ebay very easy to work with and if I have an issue, they have always handled it quickly, fairly and usually to my advantage.

I like BidBay, thats where most of my sales come from, and I think the people there are wonderful I also like Bidville, though I havn't made a sale there yet I made a sale my first week at Tbayauctions, Mtnmama do you have an idea of when they will be upgrading, I like the site but its a little difficult to manage your auctions
I list at quite a few but these three I are the ones I prefer. I've also have listings on Excite, but out of 6 bids,4 were deadbeats.
