Well folks---with all the gripes about Bidville on this board, I thought I would let people know that I have HAD some success with Bidville. By the time I had my first 30 auctions listed on Sunday, the 1st of April, by April 3 I had 7 bidders! LOTS of looks too, considering that Bidville is so new and not alot of outside advertising. If you haven't given it a try yet...maybe you should!

OK, Let's make this a real RAH! RAH! thread.
At one point yesterday, I counted 62 out of my 90 auctions with bids!
The truth is you have to work the site, and experiment. I also have been lucky that I can list stuff starting low and have found a few bidders that will buy most all of my collectibles if they can grab them for a low price. But there is bidding, and there is activity, lots of it!
If you have not taken a look in a while, check out BIDVILLE, it may be worth a second look to you.

Bidville is growing fast...listing wise. It's over twice the size of YaFool now in that respect. But it needs a lot of work.
My 1900 items are there now and they used to generate 15 sales per day on YaWho. On Bidville I get a sale every other day or 3% the sales as YaWho.
Bidville needs a lot of improvements, and I've not made any suggestions so far. i hear they listen, but I sure wasted my breath on YaFool. Charging for the pix gallery was foolish...they needed to make that standard to improve the site. The listing tree is worse than YaWhoze, if you can believe that.
But it's free and if you steer your past customers there, things should improve. They do have a nice search engine which is easy to modify for your tastes...much better than at YaFool. This is important. One of the buyer gripes that seemed to impress YaWhoze brass was the difficulty in wading through the spam and junk. Well ePay is so big, that's always been a potential problem. Personally, I never did much browsing, instead I used the search engine to locate items.
And I think that is the strength of internet listings. The key is to have a hitech search engine and a well planned listing tree. Then put your efforts as an auction site in educating the buyers how to use the power of their computers to their own benefit. There is no need you ever have to see the spam and the junk you're not interested in.

Suzi, I like the way your auctions look! How did you get it to look like that? Did you use a special software for that or did you use HTML code? I am kind of new at this. I really want to "spiff" up my auctions. Maybe that is my problem of no buyers. I really need help! Thanks so much

Hi Folks--- no, don't use a canned-package exactly for my auction pages, but just write HTML in MS Publisher 98 in fact. Thanks for the compliments...
I'm glad Bidville is working well for you. You have a nice selection of fabrics and your ads look nice. I only wish I could sew! I was a straight A student in high school except for the D in Home Ec when I tried to sew an A-line skirt and failed. I heard the Home Ec teacher retired after that year even though she was only 38. Joined a commune, I think.

Hi there I have just started listing there too. I haven't had a bid on EBAY in ages(ok probably not that long but it feels like it) and am doing a lot of the free sites right now. My experience has been very good so far and I have gotten some looks already since this morning when I listed. JMO

Hi Suzie! I just wanted to tell you that your auctions are very cool! I love what you are doing for the American Cancer Society and what a lovely quilt! Did you make that-if so you are very talented, I could never dream of any of my projects turning out so nicely! I wish you much success!!

I've always been crazy, but it's kept me from going insane!
Edited to add:
Suzi-I saw your idea about other crafters getting involved. I like to make things-I mainly knit, crochet and do embroidery-but I have no idea how to go about this. Also, I don't sell my crafts because I don't think I would be able to make it worth my while. I noticed no one has joined up yet-so let me be the first! Feel free to email me at [email protected] about this great cause.
