When I type in my browser location bar www.dutchbid.com I get a box that pops up wanting a user name and password! Also if I keep at it, finally I get a 401 error.

Can only registered users access Dutchbid now? Did I miss some important announcement?

Bidding is so slow there as it is, now this will make it even slower.

Also, when I type in my user name and password it a message comes on the screen saying "authorization failed. Try again?"

Something is not right with that place today!

Hello Jwoodcrafts,

We sent out an announcement last week and again a couple of days ago explaining that we are in the process of moving our servers and we may be down for a couple of days during the process.

Again, we appologize for the inconvenience, but the end result will be a much faster platform for everybody.

Thanks,
ER

Ummm... it's now been a week and DutchBid is still down. Any estimate when you'll be back online?

I hope it is not going in that same direction as Gold's.

I had such high hopes for at first, but I sold more items on Gold's than on Dutchbid.

I thought it had such a good chance with it's Sellers Channels and adding all those new catagories, but it sure is dead over there.

I think more than a week, and some of us cannot even get access to the site - just error messages daily. To bad, it had such great potential....Maybe we will hear from Eric sooner than later.

I think Dutchbid has gone the way Gold's did.

It has been awhile since I started this thread and the same thing is happening now as it was then.

I have my Seller's Channel bookmarked. When I click on my bookmark a login screen pops up asking for a user name and password. I type it in, and it tells me "authorization failed Try again?"

When I type in www.dutchbid.com in the location bar on my browser I get the same pop up box. I then type in my info and it tells me "access denied"

Then sometimes I also get a load of different error messages. The amount of messages depends on how many times I try to login. The more I try, the more I get. All different.

Now honestly....how could anyone come and look at your stuff anyway? They can't get to it! I can't even get to the site without a user name and password, and then they don't accept those!

I guess I just wasted that money on the Seller's Channel. I had such high hopes for this site.

Oh well, live and learn I guess. The loss could have been much higher.

Yikes! You would think you could have had some warning.

I don't remember Gold's giving any warning. If they did I missed it

One day it was there....the next it wasn't.

Hi everybody!

It does seem to be dead and gone!

Gold's didn't give any notice but then THEY were apparently taken by surprise too. Also, I didn't invest any money in Golds. For the storefront price, you'd think we would have at least gotten an email!

I never even got my storefront stocked .. was planning to go all out soon.

Where now? (Sigh)

Hi tuition44years! I was thinking of you today as I was posting.

I did get my Channel stocked. But it just sit there. I did much better at Gold's than at Dutchbid. I didn't sell much, but I did sell some items over there.

I agree that after we actually put money into it, we should have at least gotten email telling us something.

I have been listing on Bargain and Haggle for about a week. Lots of looks and one person made an offer. It is fun, but I would rather have bids.

I did get a bid on an item I listed on Epier. I forgot that I even had anything listed there. It must just relist forever.

Yahoo is also just sitting there for me. It was going along as always, until this month. It is just dead there this month.

Hi, folks!

Well, with great sadness, I'm placing DutchBid.com on my posted list of "defunct" auction sites... truly a shame as it had such great potential. But the facts are simply this: even if Eric does come back online soon, we've lost the few "regulars" and will have to re-build a seller and buyer base almost from scratch. Not impossible, but very hard to accomplish.

dadnmom: thanks for the great times we had posting "zen sayings" and jokes on the Dutchbid chat board! I really enjoyed working with you to liven up everyone's day!

Hope to see everyone soon, somewhere... and who knows? Maybe Eric will be able to re-start Dutchbid.com?

kenzy:

Thank you so much. I already miss you, and everyone else. We had such fun with those games. Thank you for all the fun, and laughs.

There is really no moment of Zen, not on this chat board that is for sure.

It is sad about Dutchbid, and it would be nice if it eventually worked out - Oh well...Another One Bites The Dust.....Queen.

LOL.....I know you got that one. Take care of yourself, and keep in touch.

Hi wabmester,

I have deleted your last post as discussions about Bidbay are now considered disruptive - please see the following thread for clarification:

Thank you,

That seems a little extreme, Sara. Eric, the founder of DutchBid, is an ex-employee of BidBay, and it seems perfectly reasonable to bring up the lawsuit settlement mentioned in BidBay's SEC filing (not in their chat room) as it may pertain to DutchBid's demise.

Hello wabmester,

For future reference, discussions regarding moderations are now taken to email.

I understand the perspective you take in your post, unfortunately, it would be too difficult to draw that line.

Thank you,

Marty
