I am a new user to this site. I have been reading alot of the posts and I don't quite understand where all the hostility comes from. It would seem that the same people are constantly knocking Bidbay's site for no reason other than to knock it. Why? I like that Bidbay is a smaller site (while at the same time growing). It allows you to get to know people and their families better. It is like a comunnity in it's own rite. Better than Ebay I think.

Anyways JMHO

anyways, if my family was anything like that, I'd have to disown them.

Go for it if that's what you want to do. We'll see you back here in a few months after you disagree with a member of your new family.

Give you a good example. When my friends at ebay heard about my heart attack and subsequent surgery, I received no fewer than 100 e-cards and several sent gifts to my home. Some even called me on the phone. Yes, I wouldn't hesitate to give my phone number out to anyone I know there!

What did BidBay do? Suspended me for posting a link to a true article in Consumer Reports.

Great family, huh?

I'm sorry to hear that. It just seems that there is more to it than that. Why would they suspend you for just posting a report? I have had problems with the people on ebay being so big but Bidbay welcomed me with open arms...

Well, sorry to hear about you and ebay.
There must be more to it than that.

Why would you have so much trouble with the people? Surely being a big site shouldn't affect your relationship with individual sellers and bidders.

I've had not one problem on that site in almost 3 years.

The support staff is cooperative and helpful. Safeharbor returns emails within 24 to 48 hours. The bidders are great; so are the sellers and I've always been treated with dignity and respect there.

I'm sorry maybe I didn't explain enough. Being new I don't have any feedback (at Ebay). I haven't had any sales there. Maybe because it is big they only buy off people with lots of stars, I don't know but I have had 7 sales within two weeks at Bidbay and the chat board has been very responsive. I also emailed one of the techs and got a response back within the hour...

Anyways

Sometimes you have to buy some little things on ebay to build your feedback before people will buy from you. I don't know how high you're pricing your items or what you sell, so that's the best advice I can give you. If you stop by the ebay user to user q&a board, you can usually get great advice on the spot. It's a real time board, but you have to reload to see answers. It looks busy and intimidating, but hang in there. They are wonderful people full of years of knowledge.

To each his own. Good luck to you whatever you decide to do.

Thank you for the advice. I like it at Bidbay but should I have any problems I'll be sure to ask...you seem to know it all

Not me hon.

You need to ask people that really think they know it all on the site. Anyone of them will answer. They're all so smart! Can you spell? If you can, better be sure you forget how when you post on there. If not, you're in good company because anyone that knows it all there can't spell worth a darn.

"anyways, if my family was anything like that, I'd have to disown them."

Been there, done that with a few of mine!!! LOL.....good one.

I have a distinct feeling that I know "anyways" from somewhere. hmmmmmmm

Most of us do not claim to know it all, but given enough time at BUDDYBay (Bidbay) you will have learned all that you need to, unless you like being lead around by the nose and drinking koolaide

Hi Allykat,

Obviously I am from somewhere. I don't exactly know what you mean in that previous statement though. Again I must appologize if my statement offended anyone. I didn't mean anything by it, I am just trying to get the facts straight on the auction site in question.

Anyways

anyways try it at Bidbay make your own choice on how it goes for you. I have bought and sold there. It is picking up a bid. It is smaller and the people for the most part are a good bunch.

Good luck!

anyways, I told you they were very smart! There ya go. Words of wisdom there.

When you get tired of no cash sales, come on back and we'll direct you to some good cash sale sites. Meantime, as I said, to each his own and have fun!

There are others, but all seem slow right now. Depending on what you sell, Bidville is okay and epier is up and coming.
tbayauctions.com is supposedly getting their act together.

I guess there's Popula and others listed somewhere in this forum. Just have to go and look and make your own decisions.

anyways...what you will find is all sites have their positives and negatives.

BidBay for one is a good place to learn about putting your auctions together, fine tuning them if you will. There you have a chance to make mistakes in item descriptions, with your html without it really costing you. The only way it would cost you is if you were to sell an item and had to pay the fvf and then you wouldn't mind because you sold the item.

BidBay also has a way to go. They are currently experiencing some technical problems, but that is expected with growth.

They have a small but dedicated group of people working for them who put in endless hours to try to keep the site running smoothly.

I guess we should all, and I include myself here because I have had to learn this myself, base our opinions on our own experiences.

So with that in mind take what we all have to say about anything with a grain of salt and experience it for yourself and then form your opinion.

I am not saying there aren't any valid opinions here on these boards, there are a lot of valid opinions. The only problem is that they are some times laced with emotion and therefore the opinions get a little muddied up. We all start focusing on what or how the person might have said something, instead of the issue which if people focused on just the issues there might be solutions found.

Growth? WHAT GROWTH?

A month or so ago the fuzzy math on the BidBay homepage claimed more than one million items, right now it has just over 780,000 items.

I thought that GROWTH meant the number was going to get BIGGER.

Perhaps you could clear up the confusion about this "trend"?

I'm just referring to growth in an overall aspect dimview.

This is just there second year and they are attempting to add new services (growth) which have caused some conflicts within their system.

They have made complete overhauls in the way their system is running (growth) and that I'm sure has created conflicts...etc.

The numbers are not where they need to be or should be but the simple fact is they are earning money and have been able to raise substantial capital by what was stated in their filing.

It's in the filing allykat.

The do have ad revenue coming in plus they were able to pull in over 4.5 million selling stock.

I'm just wondering if all of these other sites like Bidville, epier, etc have any income coming in.

"It's in the filing allykat. "
and who determines if that is acurate or not?

The stock, interesting you should mention that. One of the long time users was upset that the price of the stock had dropped so much. Oh well, I am going for a short movie on the tube. Ya'll behave now ya hear???
