I've been busy listing over at SellYourItem the last few days and I'm already having some success.

There are MANY familiar faces from the eBay boards registering and Listing & Bidding over at SYI.

Folks should give it a try!

I have been watching sell your own item it many have promise but most of the bidding right now is one seller bidding on other sellers item.

there is very few bids from 0 feed back or new users most have feed back from there old gold auction acounts and have there own listing running.

I surffed every listed auction on the site yesterday for a lack of anything better to do on a rainy day off and bidder leads to another seller who has auctions with bid them bids are for a another seller who has bid from anthonther seller.

most of the bidding is from seller on there chat board.

I will continue to watch and see when the real bids start comeing in This isnt a fee site they are just offer free listing to get catagories fill up there listing fees mimick ebay before the incress though the FVF is far lower.

Like yahoo found seller can not really aford to pay listing fees inless there are enough sales to justify paying to list.

I will wait and see once the clicque type bidding and testing ends and listing fees kick in if there is any real bidding and promise.

I cant see putting hour in to List item there while its free to find my self next month or two paying fees for no sales.

The site does look great and I love there pay banner feature which is a good deal but with out new users comeing in to bid its dead in the water.

I must have 500 Auction listed on Auction sites other then ebay right now with no bids and no views and all the time spent is a big loss and waste.

I registered at sellyouritem when it first opened. Due to ISP upgrade problems, I haven't listed anything yet.

I just took a look at completed auctions. Out of 917 auctions 103 had at least 1 bid.
Not bad for a site that is less than 2 weeks old. That's about 11% sell through rate if all of the auctions were non reserve.

Price range was from 40 cents to 31.95. Hopefully that sell through rate is accurate and it continues to grow. Lots of buy now auctions are mixed in there too.

Dimview, if you are out there, might be one you want to keep stats on. I enjoy seeing you post them.

Will do. I'll take a look at SYI along with a couple of smaller auction sites in the near future.

Thanks.

I've registered at SYI and posted a couple of auctions.

If people are going to sit back and wait for a site to prove it is viable before listing then they will be waiting for a long time and eBay will remain the only place where they will feel comfortable listing.

If, as a seller, you want options to the 500 pound gorilla that is eBay then you have to be willing to help build an alternative. It isn't going to be handed to you. If it were it would come with all the same problems that eBay presents for the simple reason that the folks who do pay to build the site will be investors who demand a return on their investment.

I'm going to offer items on SYI at a better starting bid than I offer the same items on eBay. As the listing fees are currently waived on SYI and the final value fees are identical to eBay's, I think it appropriate to pass the savings on to bidders. And perhaps to even take a bit of a loss in order that SYI might grow to viability.

Folks can sit on their collective backsides or they can try to help to establish a viable alternative to eBay.

I registered at SYI. I even listed a few items. It is very user friendly and I like being able to schedule listing launches. Now if we can get some buyers over there I think it will succeed. I even bid on a couple of items just to help get the ball rolling. Hope SYI is a success.
