Hi everyone!
I Have been selling on auction sites for over 4 yeays. I would like to know if anyone could explain the logic in "Take it" or " First Bid Wins".
All I can see is that it can bust up an auction site and eliminate any competitor
with the lowest bid. (THE BIG GUY WINS)!
I'll make this short, (WHY)!!!!

I can't help but think about the first time I put a bid on an auction. It was so exciting to win a bid against another bidder.
The thrill to keep on checking to see if someone has out bid me? and feeling great if I won.
I think something good has been lost!

I buy and sell, and I like both formats. It depends, though, completely on what type of item a person has listed.
I sell all types of collectibles. Some are new and I may have a dozen or two of them, then there's my 'one-of-a-kind' merchandise that I'll list in an auction format. With the buy price the listing can be closed more quickly, the seller has the money faster, and the buyer has their item.
Yes, the auction format can be a lot of fun, but there are times when a person does need something in a hurry and doesn't always have access to that item locally or from another on-line retail outlet.
As much as I get aggravated with eBay there are a couple of items I will go there to buy when I need them, and usually I need them in a hurry. If I can find a seller with a Buy price on those items he's made a sale.
Buy prices are also great when you're gift shopping. I don't have a problem with buying people 'used' collectibles, but I've done the biggest majority of my Christmas shopping the last couple of years on auction sites and plan to continue doing so. It's nice to find something I can just buy outright without having to wait days for an auction to end.
